that it is....but boy oh boy.....what a piece of kit. Good enough for sky, good enough for me. It really closes the loop between training and equipment in the sense that they don't focus on gimmicks....just what is important.

how is it any different/better than riding and IDT with a powermeter?

That would be a lot cheaper.

On paper it might be attractive but in reality I don't think it will ever replace a group ride...it is a bit gimmicky. Even the VR of tacx doesnt appeal to me....For an all out training machine you will have to look far to beat the wattbike...but it aint cheap.

Well my reasoning is as follows:-

1. It is safer

2. When the a second child arrives this may extend my tri career

3. In the long run you will save money - lower bike maintenance (no punctures / crashes)

4. You cannot be hijacked

I believe the future of cycling lies with indoor trainers and riding only races

oom why should i buy a watt bike just a brief version

You want to train with power and not be killed while checking out your SRM

You don't want to stick your R120k Bianchi on IDT

I ride a R2500 fuji with a power tap that costed me R7000 and a IDT of R500 = R10 000.

Best 10k that I've spend and I get to take the bike outdoors, have the privileged of washing it on weekends getting some vit D.

Pure joy.

I have a tacx I-Magic that I stopped using out of frustration and now a Powerbeam Pro. I would definitely recommend the Powerbeam.

The iPad software is very stable, it's silent with the trainer tyre and the ride feel is good.

It would take a bit of convincing for me to ever buy a Tacx trainer again.

I really hope you're wrong. Spending hours on the IDT is depressing. Doing it once or twice every now and then is manageable...

Pedal stroke analysis, thus 2 powermeters in crank...very very cool.

Built like a brick shitter

Built-in tests and programs

Online support and programs...wattbike.com is a very good training resource even if you dont own a wattbike

Controlled powerbased training where you can measure your performance increase or decrease in static environment.

Its the top of the range indoor trainer. Tough to say if its worth all that money but I suppose it depends on how often you use it.

Agree, buying it will do buggerall, you need to sit and hurt on it to make it worth it...
