Just because 1 or 2 guys manage to make down on trail bikes without killing themselves and you actually have to use your cranks and pedal all the keyboard warriors come out proclaiming the course is $hit. Now these guys think anyone can jump on their trail bike and go for a run down the track. I say come and try and if you make it down alive I will give you your due. 99.9% will bash their brains out and don't give a thought to, well maybe these guys are the best in the world for a reason, and Oh look my bike has Pedals and Cranks what the hell are those for? To win you need to be consistent at riding ALL of it. He admits he sucks at the pedally stuff. Well work on the pedally bits Brendan and you'll stand a better chance of winning overall. It's not the tracks that are ***, it's you bud..... The whole trail vs DH and 26 vs 29er nonsense is not only in this sport. The motorcycle enduro guys choose to ride different bikes at different events. They could ride a 450, 300 and a 125 all in the same season. Each course will suit a certain bike. Same as DH. Equipment i evolving. So what if our course is "flat". Nige does an awesome job with what he has available. The fact that it creates such controversy is a good thing. More publicity for us! The sport has evolved.. There is a mental and physical attribute about it. Just look at Steve Smith last year... He washed out in the first corner... Why.. Because he is mentally going through what is required in split 1 2 3 and 4... and in that instance he lost a Milli second of concentration. And what about Sam hill crashing at the end.. Was he maybe not physically up to the challenge.. If the course is so easy then these champions should be able to do it with their eyes closed.. Throw speed and physical requirements at the challenge and everything just becomes that more technical. As for Jared graves and his enduro bike.. Well the guy is not only a machine..
