possibly to cut out all the boring district road, which would be great that means then they have recieved access to farms to make a shorter more direct route meaning more singletrack

Apparently the number of days is also a problem. I would have missed out then - should have done it this year but ended up doing Panorama instead.

doubt they could shorten it by that much maybe 1 or 2 days

We have now done 2 joberg2C races.

Both have been near perfect from weather, health, mechanicals and no crashes point of view.

The attention to detail throughout the event , the local community involvement, the intimate involvement of the organisers and their spouses, the attitude of our fellow riders and the "Route is King" approach make this one of the highlight events in our cycling experiences.

I am really happy/proud that there are more overseas riders taking part and experiencing some of the lesser travelled parts of our country.

What an amazing event - we loved the experience!!!

I hope that the guys who rode this year are enjoying your branded Carbons :)

We had not being home for more than 5 minutes before my daughter's boyfriend laid claim to my branded carbon.

I have heard a rumour that the race will be changed/ shortened next year. Any truth?

The info I have is that the event is apparently being shortened to 7 days and the route no longer goes to underberg. It is planned to go through Nottingham Rd towards Cascades and then will follow the Dusi2C route.

UNDERBERG IS THE BEST PART, DUMP THE DISTRICT ROADS

I think just aout anyone who has ever ridden a mounain bike must have done Sani2C by now so the route from Underberg to Scottburgh is very well known and very well travelled. So whilst doing Joberg2C this year was fantastic, riding the last 3 days on a route I know so well, was a little 'boring'.

Also it must be said that 9 days is a LONG time to be on the bike and away from family and work. I missed my family a lot and my work missed me. A 7 day race covering a new route will make the race accessible to many more riders, as well as creating what I think is some much needed variation in the route and the finish itself.

Either way it's a must do event.

BUT THE FREE STATE HOSPITALITY

Hospitality was world class, but the -2 degree starts were bleak. That section along the Wilge River at the start of day 2, with ice on the dirt road was something I've never experienced before.

WRT hospitality, the mealie bread on day 1 and 2 was about the best thing I've ever eaten in my life

I know I know but as sometime says 9 days is a long time to be away. Personally I would prefer 7 days.
