I wish... nicked them off their page. Just got pics of stage one. Looks like I will be going to follow next year though, was supposed to this year, but just a few too many fires to put out at the moment.

I hope everyone in Joburg is coming to watch the criterium racing at Blue HIlls Midrand tomorrow. Will be awesome racing at all levels.

Did go have a look at Blue Hills Estate today and found it very dissappointing.

Road surface was not suited to racing at all. Am really surprised that it was signed off. Not many spectators. Overall feel was not in line with the calibre of teams participating

The estate put up a pretty good show with plenty of entertainment for children, food etc.

Anyone a better experience?

If the spectators had come out to support I think it would have been a ripper... road surface not perfect, but there-in lies the challenge.

Really enjoyed the criterium racing but have to admit that the road surfaces on the track were very dangerous... Had to bunny hop speed humps at 60km/h and ride through sections with water and sand on the track, so that wasn't ideal.

The race definitely deserved more spectators though as it was a good show and great chance to rub shoulders with some of the countries finest cyclists.

The road surface was not a challenge, it was destructive! I am sure a number of carbon wheels have irreparable damage after that.

I believe one of the team managers even pulled his entire team from the race.

I am sure a better venue could have been found, we have such a beautiful country and we aren't depicting that to the international teams. Disappointing finish to the tour!

Re the road surface etc, Malcolms standpoint is this is what guys face in Europe on a week to week basis. Sketchy crit courses are the norm. The tour is largely about bridging the gap for our local guys. The turnout was disappointing and maybe the location was a bit too isolated - with a big crowd the vibe would have been cool.

So you mean to say that carbon frames and wheels are made for bunny hopping and cobblestones... Sounds good to me ;)
