Stopped there for dinner one night during load shedding, but they were only able to make limited food so we left. After having to pay R90 for two 500ml still waters, I will not be back in a rush.

I'm about 100 % sure the owner doesn't give a **** about 4 stinky guys who want to irritate the waitress for 3 coffees and a water

But the owner missed the THOUSANDS of cyclist that are businessmen, execs, professionals etc. that has now seen and heard of his unwillingness to service cyclist and will no longer have their work lunch/dinner etc there and also inform their firm to not support the business.

I think it is short sighted.  Money is money.  You are in business for a reason.

But good luck to him.  He won't get rich from my hard earned cash.....

It think we as cyclists over estimate our buying power and consumer base.

As I said earlier, the owner has probably done a commercial calculation on how many cycling customers he will lose by excluding cyclists vs how many non-cycling customers he will lose by including cyclists, if he hasn't and this is just an emotional thing, well that's his prerogative and he must live with it.

I always have a good laugh at how people here on the hub think that you have the numbers to boycott or in any way influence in numbers.

It's a little forum with a hand full of loyal supporters

I would very surprised if the owners had done an analysis to that degree. Hardly any businesses, particularly small ones, have either the skills or the energy for this type of exercise.

On the other side you have a huge company like famous brands. Some of their brands are Tasha's, Steers, Wimpey and Mug and Bean. They made serious effort at Mug and Bean to encourage cyclists. If Mug and Bean could see the advantage of encouraging cyclists I suspect that is a worthwhile market to cater to.

Of course Famous Brands could be totally wrong and this little restaurant and the Hub anti cyclist community could be onto something.

Please show me any normal restaurant where the cyclists outnumber the civilians.

You're not thinking logically, he's not going to get rich off 4 guys every morning having coffee and asking for the gluten free menu.

So.......hand full......lets say 7.

I personally know about 30 hubbers IN PERSON.  Shook their hand, know how and where they ride.

Around 10 of them earn....and I am guessing.....R1m plus a year.

5 of them are execs managing BIG corporate banks and business'

So......take your statistical "bad experience tells 7 people about it"

How good is your maths?

Better still.....

Take just ONE guy I know.  1000 people working under him?  Control budget of his firm of around R5bil?

What do you think will a pissed of guy like that do with his lunch money?

In the end it takes just ONE guy to make a difference.

But maybe you are right.......the Hub has no numbers......

And just maybe some people are laughing at people that think the cycling community called TheHub is small.....

You are assuming cyclist wear lycra ALL the time?

HAHAHAHAH.  Good one.

Me personally.....I don't like to wine and dine with my voëlverklikker pants.

So I go home and put on some party pants and then go eat somewhere.

And I won't go to this place anymore.

Maybe I just see PR different.

Again....as you said before.......he has a right to choose his clientele.  Good on him.

Get the point?

He turned guys dressed in lycra away , If you cycle and eat there any other day you'll be allowed in. No one cares that you were turned away as a cyclist , no body cares.

No one is going to stand up in solidarity and not eat because your buddy was turned away looking and smelling like a knob
