Hypoxic training - does it work?

When I was training I. Wanted one of these. Can't remember where I read it, but they said it is better to rest at high altitude and train at sea level. Maximum performance during training and limited oxygen during rest increases redblood cells

Gym opened in constantia that has an altitude room 2800m above sea level. I tried it out the other evening and I must say it is very different to normal sea level training.

I rode some hills in Belfast at 2900m the other day- jeez did I feel it! I think EPO must be easier.

apparently it can be adjusted to any level but they just train at 2800m asl

Thinner and longer tube increases breathing resistance and to and extent "contaminates" the air that you take in with the CO2 that you have just exhaled......almost like putting a single barrel carburator on a BIG V8 engine.....

 

Body put under stress due to increase in concentration of CO2 intake.....trying to mimic conditions of less air pressure at altitude.

I think you'd get more than fit just going up and down the stairs, that's a long way!

And? have you decided yet, I'm convinced & keen to do a group order, nearly went through with my solo order until I realised shipping would cost a little less than the actual mask itself.
