Work on Vasbyt

My honest opinion is that riding up Vasbyt is just plain silly. It really shouldn't be a bi-directional trail, it's just too narrow for that. This is logically why I never ascend it and always use the jeeptrack, as boring as that may be. Fairy Garden is I reckon as narrow, visibility-limited and fast (it's not) as a bi-directional trail can go...

Oddly I have had more close calls on Fairy Garden than on Vasbyt.

Watch that statement go badly wrong for me now...

Enjoyed climbing the new piece on Wednesday. Didn't hit the jump on the way down though (the steep landing makes it look pretty big) but after hearing everyone say how easy it is, I'll have to pull the trigger next time.

Vasbyt is not narrow if both parties are even just mildly respectful of each other, there shouldn't ever be a problem. But wow, there are some selfish douchetards going both up and down. You'll probably get better results removing that segment from Strava than making it one direction ;)

Plus it is only busy on weekend mornings. Go midweek or in the late afternoon/ evening on the weekends, I find that you are unlikely to pass many, if any people, on Vasbyt.

Bennet hard at work again today, that little bridge after the new pallet jump is repaired and lots more flowing stuff added after that.....that section from the new pallet jump to the rock drop and across the plank walkway bridge is really flowing well!! Well done Bennet, you da man!

My only worry now is uphillers! There are some narrow sections in that area and it looks like we are going to be able to go faster downhill through there.....a crash is looming on a busy day!

Hence,

Just thought i'd share since the work Bennet has done enables a lot more flow and speed to be carried through the section... Imagine if the entire trail gets soop'd up like the entry already has.

Im not forcing or trying to be thick.. just saying Capediver you confirmed my concern... but ya, exercise caution when tokai is busy and when approaching "high accident risk zones" until further notice. Atleast i know hubbers will be doing this...

Rode down Vasbyt yesterday for the first time in ages. Really liked the new divert (so you don't cross the DH line) and it flows well and has a nice rock feature followed by a little jump that boosts you right into the berm-pretty loose but the rain is going to sort that out tonight!

The section Bennett has re-done is soooo nice. Not only does it ride fast and smooth but it finally LOOKS pretty too. I can't wait for all those (broken)wood pallets to disappear.

Let's hope the water diverts work with the amount of rain that is about to fall.

Yes please, if you can, (and you can) avoid the soft clay.. do not ride on the new stuff, pretty please, like the kind you get with cherries, sprinkles and crushed pistachio nuts on top. What a waste it will be to have all the new features damaged before it can set.

Tell all your friends...

Why not close it off with a massive log and a note saying that riding it will result in your willy shrinking?

Cool.

Usually I'm the one asking guys to ride at ridiculous o'clock.

Some more pictures of the latest work, just below where the other pics were taken.

Very much smoother and appears wider.

And no I didn't ride it I just went up there to take the pictures (although by the looks of it someone had been dragging brakes big time all the way down Vasbyt and My Roots sometime today)
