Well the titan trail is tubless and it's a 7000 bike. Fon know how tho. How much would it cost to convert to tubless?

Ask them to do a tubeless conversion as part of the deal. That's what I did, and they were happy to do it. As a result, I've been repeat business for a few years now.

Dont know if my new Merida big nine tfs 100 will have tubless tyres?and is 13.9 kgs heavy for a 8000 rand bike?

The heavier your bike, the harder you'll work, the fitter you'll get quicker. :whistling:

Who you buying from and ask them if it is tubeless then you will know.

If is from a lbs then ask them to do the conversion to tubeless as part of the sale

How to tell if tubeless:

  • take sharp awl like object (2" nails work too)
  • stab into tyre
  • remove
  • wait to see how long it leaks for (tyre may require a spin)

If all the air goes out... it's not tubeless. If it deflates a little but then seals... it is.

Simple as that!

But on a serious note, there's this strong misconception that tubeless is all about the weight savings. It is not. It is more about the tyres ability to resist punctures. Yes, often there is weight saved, this is a bonus though, not the main intention for tubeless.

As for the "throw in a tubeless conversion with the sale" approach. If the tyres on the bike are already tubeless specific, the seller may do this for free. But if they're not, the cost for tubeless tyres alone will be R1000 - R1500, so on an R8000 bike, I doubt they'll throw in that kind of freebie.

tubless?

It is usually pretty easy to spot. First, there will be carrier on top of the rear tyre. Then there will be a tub strapped onto the aforementioned carrier.

So, if you don't spot any of those, I'm pretty sure you can assume it is tubless...

Yup definteley a must. I use the Joe:s no flats kits. Cycle lab has then for R450 odd. Rim strips, rim tape, sealant, and valves have removable cores. Have used them with Geax tubeless and Schwalbe tubeless ready tyres. Works great on both, tubeless ready just takes longer to seal.
