Bold statement... however if it's true, you probably should speak with your PR dept, they are letting you down...

I would much rather do an audax.

Take London Edinburgh London for example, entry was 200 pounds for a 1400km ride to be completed in 116 hours. Or Paris Brest Paris, which was a 100 euros for a 1200km ride in 90hours. At the checkpoints one could find food, showers, mattresses and hopefully a bike mechanic.

With opportunities to do rides like these, I fail to see the allure to amateur riders for doing a 10 000 USD ride of a 1000km in 5 days, of which the biggest part will be on district roads. The prize money will only draw a select few.

Well I think it's bloidy fantastic and both crazy at the same time..

The Karoo may be flattish.. but that means no free kilo's and in December the heat will be a huge challenge.

Oh hell and the wind. . No shelter from the wind in the karoo

Ideal bike for this race is a KTM 1190 Adventure

Just my personal opinion

You want a GS pappie

Well something is going wrong... with you being tougher than Martin Dreyer, yet not quite as famous or marketable ;)

Michael Griffin?

Excuse my ignorance but I have no idea who he is

but I assume he is very rich

I spoke to some people very close to the organisation of this last night a the launch. The prize money has already been secured. They dont need the entry fees to pay the prize money. This is definitely happening, unless no one enters...

Ok, good to know, because if they need to fund it from the entry fees I would expect some problems.

Maybe now I will be able to convince my wife the Epic is good value for money!
