Mental. I expect the bike will spend all of time in that crate…….

The owner of the now defunct JHB Yamaha had a Blaster and a Special Edition Red Banshee in crates displayed.  I wonder what he ever did with them

I appreciate the significance of a crate-bike. But It's a shame to see it like that. It's pretty much useless like that. But if that's a thing, and people can use it as an investment, then so be it.

Got this voice note after no reply to coms since Friday .............. not believing the below as last time it was noted there was a 3 week lead time for the gasket set, but hoping that the base gasket is easier to get or to make, so going to just go with the flow and see what happens.

Mornings .hope you good .still working on her .had to pull the engine out of the frame again.she started up nicely . But there is an oil leak on the base gasket .gasket moved out of the locator dell when i assembled her .getting another base gasket in the morning and re assemble .think this bike likes me .but im on it and will give you an update again lets say around 10 this morning

Venom Clubman...  v nice.

The chrome one is a  genuine Clubman - the one in the pic is more a Venom with some Thruxton bits added and some random parts I had in my roof!

Going through the October issue of Bike I came across this…….Apparently the big H are looking to build this with a 150HP  engine. I think this would put a smile on my face!

I owned one years back... engine #VM5428.

Thruxton Tank and seat added really nice lines to the Velo. Sounds like you have a few Venoms..

I do - My Dad and I collected Velos for many years.  He passed away last year so I got rid of some of the more collectable models and just kept the ones which were sentimental to me - a 1931 GTP 2-stroke, the Venom Clubman, the Thruxtonized Venom, a Viper and a 350 MAC scrambler.

The Genuine Thruxton went to my Brother in the UK and the 500 DBD34 Gold Star has gone to my other Brother in Cape Town.

The pic below was our stable a few years ago and

Honda are apparently going to launch a 500 4 cylinder in this shape with 80 horses. These are so gawwjuss that I would be severely tempted. Days of big bore bonies are in my past esp on this island.

Quite a lineup indeed! Keen to hear about the Goldie... im in CT and busy restoring a DBD34.

My Dad bought it in the UK in 1980 for I think R3000 - he had one growing up at University and always wanted another.  He got it running and then totally stripped it to rebuild.  It took him the better part of 40 years to start working on it again and over Covid got most of the stuff done.  He got it running again towards the end of 2023 and then sadly died in July 2024 so never got to see it finished, or even ride it.  We eventually had it completed, but it's never been ridden - I'm leaving that for my brother to appreciate.

It's a really nice example, with all the special bits.  The only thing which I think is not correct is that it doesn't have the white pinstripe around the seat - which it had when my my Dad bought it.

That is a really lovely DBD34.  Im a long way off that stage with mine... busy with all the prep work on the cycle parts which are now mostly complete and ready to assemble..engine and gearbox last ...also an original Clubmans model fortunately
