Talk about a post going wrong

Firstly I guess I should have started with those Hub members that feel like doing so should partake instead of implying all hubbers should, thought that would have been obvious, secondly I probably should not have posted anything  .

I just personally feel that they go out of their way both on the hub and in their stores. Yes at the end of the day they are a business and wont sell anything to you at a loss to them, but I for one appreciate the engagement. I hardly see how it is similar to faceless store like pnp or woolies, if you asked me to pop R50 for them I guess I would give the same replies that have been given here.

I see the hub as a community and CWC someone who adds a value to being a part of that community, not many places where you can ask for specials on what you need and get them (sometimes).

In general I do like to reward good service when I get it, be it a phone call or letter to the owner etc. At the end of the day I guess I have just been really stoked with them lately and most of it has been though the hub, thought others may have been the same way inclined.

Go and buy a couple of C02 bombs from them.

You would have supported your favourite store

They would have made R50 profit (that you wanted to just give to them)

Happy Day for all

......ag what, the intention was honourable, the idea seemed good, the suggestion a bit shaky. Maybe tweeking it a bit will work. So here goes.......what about the cycle shop implementing a social "service your own bike" once a month (ie Saturday before a big race) where you can service your bike on their premises using their tools for free. You can also buy the necessary replacement parts, equipment at a discounted price on that specific day. Advice and knowledge will be shared by their mechanics and fellow DIY mechanics. But that is not all......boerries, pizza, coffee and beer will also be supplied at a nominal fee. All this while socializing with fellow cyclist.......

.......now to get a cycle shop to implement this idea.......

.......oh wait, they don't really need to do anything extra because they are in the retail business and having fun is not really part of their core business.

Dear CWCycles

Although I couldn't find your shop in Willow Bridge the other day and ended up at that Specialized one instead I wish to thank you for that bike you sold me in 1994. That was my first Argus bike before it got liberated. Although I haven't bought anything form you in the past 20 odd years I still think you are a great shop.

I believe sending you a prezzie is a good idea, although I believe pizza and beer is not good for yer image. So, if I ever find that Willow Bridge store I will drop a head of healthy cabbage for yer all.

As you may read, I am not good with directions, any specials on GPS's? :whistling:

Yip. To make money!

And theres is nothing wrong with that, but they are a business. Thats what they do

Their reward is a returning customer (i.e. More money)

If there is going to be any pizza and beer donated, it should be to the mechanic in the back that did a great job on your bike at the last service or saved you a few hundred bucks by fixing your derailleur instead of replacing it. Not for the dude that pays his salary.... and it should be for that mechanic ONLY. Let him decide if he wants to share....

You must be joking.

Can you find the N1 in Cape Town?

Flip you bunch, I'm not going to read the whole thread, but there's nothing wrong with dropping off a 6pack of beers at you lbs for the mechanic. Especially if they've gone out of their way to do a job for you. A little show of appreciation goes a long way.

They wont do this because then riders will start realising how easy it is to service their own bikes.
