T-Bag68 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I love this event Done the last 3, The first was a killer with the weather, caused a lot a damage to the bike, but still enjoy a whole lot. Last year watched what the weather was doing, it was better than year before, so ride we did, This year weather was great for riding, sky's opened up to show the sunshine every now and then, Cruising around the Dam was stunning. For the distance (45k) it is a great little tester with some great climbing in the later part. with mud,clay and rivers to test your skills. When myself and friend arrived back to the finish, it was packing up. We was the last two guys to come home, After trying our best to help my brother sort puncture probs, then derailleur then shoe then another puncture. he DNF but we had such a good time out there. One of my favorites rides and parts of the world. Maybe its because of my out look I like to see how fast I can go on a road bike, I love the adventure of MTB
milky4130 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I rode with my wife and we were quite far back on the 32km route and we had no issues getting lost, Not sure if you guys are referring to the long route but it was said the short route went through there as well. All the arrows was still visible when we passed through! I will be back next year! Hopefully i can do the long route again!in hindsight if there were no riders ahead of me already taking the wrong route I most likely would not have followed them & get lost in the process. Lesson learned.
#RAH# Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Different colour plastic arrows sounds like a good idea. Did the 32 km route, but ride shows as 39.5 km on strava. Geuss some of us are so unfit we cant even see straight let alone think straight, after the firts 10km.

milky4130 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 is this race happening this year? cant find any info re the 2015 race...you are 3months early, as the name suggest "Bastille" usually the 13th or 14th July or the Saturday closes to that date. It's a very successful race run annually as part of the festival in Franschoek, so I can't see why it would not be run this year again.
