I'm a little bit concerned since we do our open water swim training there... Edit: I messaged the guys at Hero and this is their reply: "David , about 2 weeks ago we were told by a visitor that they heard there was a hippo at the mouth . we immediately went and checked and have continued to check daily but have not seen anything ,we were then told by the lifesavers they were comfortable to continue the swimming and they would monitor . this weekend the swim comp was at the lake and all necessary processes were followed and we believe there were no issues at all . on weekends we have lifesavers there doing checks all the time and the swim loop is on the wall side , Other end of the Lake to the mouth . We continue to check and assure you that we will keep everyone informed , we are also making contact with Heia management and will get info from them . open water swimming is a risk and there are always dangers . we make this very clear to all swimmers at Lake Heritage . If we hear anything we will immediately take the necessary action , at this point the lifesavers have said they are happy that people swim during the specified times under there supervision so we are using there experience as a guide"

Uni Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Who actually owns/manages the lake? I thought that was Heia Safari and all cycling concerns were hero?In December I contacted Heia querying the use of the lake with an inflatable and they said yeah sure but be aware of the presence of hippos.
