Not underestimate-ing, but I like races like the Jock & berge & dale etc there is not a lot of hilly races in JHB. This race was suppose to be up there with berge and dale. now its between berge & dale & the epr...

The downhill start is just plain stupid and dangerous. Big groups of people with fresh legs full of testosterone burning it hard down that hill is a recipe for disaster ...

Yip.... and no real climbs. Entered it, but think I'll give it a skip......

Route is disappointing.

Definitely a change for the worse.

Hope organisers are listening.

Agree but my guess is that traffic on N14 was a problem. The section from the cradle exit to bottom of sterkfontein.

I must say that's where I must give the ASG guys some kudos. Within days of the Jock they sent out surveys and within weeks they had acknowledged the issues and attempted to address them. I'm willing to pay a bit extra for that.

That stretch definitely was a problem - a lot of very grumpy motorists waiting for ages at the intersection.

Still, there must be some other way of dealing with this (that doesn't involve endangering the safety of competitors at the start).

Raised some of the above concerns with the organisers, and received the following in an e-mail:

"It will be a neutral zone till the bottom. Route has more left turns instead of right and we pass and clear the busy roads earlier."
