Standard therapy for illnesses that exacerbate conditions like asthma - essentially reducing lung inflammation and enabling the sufferer to breath more easily. Even taken for the wrong reasons, any advantage gained would be tiny, if there was any at all, because of the associated weight gain.

Aye aye aye.. another day another atricle.. soon Froome will be applying for a TUE for anti depressants.

You saw his face at the end of today's race too huh

I struggle to see how a dermatological treatment would be able to treat that sort of medical condition (asthma)

The medical condition they were treating was not asthma, but reportedly respiratory infection.

Yes, prednisolone administered dermatological is useless for treating respiratory infection, and hence they got a TUE for oral administration. But the administration is not the crux of the matter.

The issue is that if there is a rule that states that a TUE for a corticosteroid can only be grated for out of competition use, did the UCI ignore this by allowing it in competition.

If such a rule does exist, they have some explaining to do. If it does not exist, and the quote I posted above is incorrect, then yes, it is a non issue.

I did not read the article. I have applied for TUE for Olympic athletes for Cortisone before. Yes it can enhance performance. It does shorten "turn around time". Cortisone is the mother of all anti-inflammatories. It also has the most side-effects. Lance got out of jail once by retrospectively getting a prescription for an ointment for saddlesores. It gets absorbed systemically from cream.

who cares , nobody worries about the biggest loser in a race

it will blow over now he hasn't won :whistling:

This was not for Critérium du Dauphiné. It was for Tour de Romandie which he did win.

I have now read both articles. I dont think the explanation is good at all. 40mg is a good stiff dose. To make it very clear: Inhaled Cortisone excist in many forms. It then works well in the lungs without having much effect elsewhere. If it was for bronchitis it should be possible to inhale a decent dose. I am not very convinced with the facts at hand. Problem again is the grey areas. I have said many times life is not black and white. I am just saying that if we are talking about the intention of the rules as it stands now, then this is surely bending it.
