Do they seriously make you share a tent for 9 ******* days?? Not sure I want my boyfriend that close to another man for that long.

Maybe he will appreciate you more afterwards...................

Howdy All

OK, have managed to get a team entry with a mate who secured a sponsorship slot!

We'll be easy to spot on the route- likely to be the only guys with bikes >5 yrs old (one a hard tail) and consistently back of the pack.

Seriously though, we're in it to enjoy it but I DO NOT want to suffer through it. I think my biggest challenge will be a chronic snorer for a tent mate (warning, pitch yours at the ooother end of the camp). We have both just started training, or rather riding more regularly and with more dedication. BUT, I'm in Pretoria and he's in Durban, so does anyone have any suggestions for races/rides halfway between? Maybe Harrismith area?

I've entered the Route66 stage race as a prep, any hubbers doing J2C also doing the Route66?

Adios

Probably we will do Route 66 as part of prep for J2C.

I am hoping to convince my partner to do the GR300 as prep as well - thats good prep.

I would rather have my man share a tent with another guy than another woman. Worry more about the sweetie-pies giving massages at the massage tent.

I agree, I don't think I'd cope if another aunty farted in my tent

Entered! Doing it with the missus. Real nervous.

I have heard that it is worthwhile to go to a B&B for two or three nights as it helps you recover better. What do you guys think?

Quick question on training.

I'm riding seven hours a week on a road bike (2 hard intervals sessions and one LSD), and am at a fitness level that'll get me a sub 3:30 Argus.

Putting aside technical skills - they're reasonable - how much of this fitness will help me in the J2C?

I've done W2W Ride at a lower fitness level and finished top of D group.

But am suddenly getting very nervous that I'm way behind for J2C training...
