Our lives are so tough! We get forced everyday to buy things we don't want for prices that we do not want to pay.....

When did it become everybody else's responsibility to look after me and my interest?

Everyday people come here and moan about how they are being screwed over. NOT once has anybody taken responsibility for their own action.

Boohoo banks charge me interest!! Well then don’t buy stuff you cannot afford on credit!

Boohoo cell company this and that don’t give me what I want!! Well change, or stop moaning!

Boohoo bike shop 1 charges more than bike shop 2. Well take your money elsewhere.

Boohoo insurance company X won’t pay my claim even though I excluded said cover to save a buck.

Boohoo I must pay R1000 for a special seat clamp. Well when you bought areo bike X to show off to your friends you should have thought of that.

It absolutely amazes me that we have become so reluctant to look after ourselves and that we expect companies to do it for us!

It amazes me that we feel that we have the right to tell people what to charge us for their products or services, how dare you!! If you do not agree with a price shop around until you find a price that you are ok with or drop your standards!

I saw something along the lines of:

"A Woman will pay R1,000 for a R1,400 item she does not need because it's on sale, whilst a man will pay R1,400 for a R1,000 item because he actually needs it"

I suppose it depends on the target market then?

On a serious note though, if you don't like the price, don't buy the item or shop around for a better price. RRP is usually a guideline issued by suppliers of a particular good and is just that, a recommendation. Depending on the items, I'll always shop around before buying and pay very little attention to the RRP or pre-sale price. This info still does not affect how much is going to leave my wallet at the end of the day.

Could also be that the prices go up and a sale is started in order to stimulate sales before the increase is effective or enforced. Some stores also sell their older stock at the "reduced rate" in order to make way for newer stock of the same item which has cost them more to bring in.

Ultimately, something is really only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

i stopped there, woman and spending cannot be used as valid point in any discussion

I agree. I think it depends what level of state intervention you are happy with.

For example I think the intervention of the NCA is a good thing to protect mostly uneducated and desperate people from debt traps.

This however, is a bit extreme. If you are willing to report these people to the consumer protection body, you have too much time on you hands. Do you really want to become such a nanny state?

It's really quite simple, and NOT about the price being paid, but don't hoodwink ignorant people into thinking that they are getting a better deal than they actually are!

Have a read through the CPA, this is what the issue is about. I see something on a website advertised for x, minutes later it goes on sale with the "normal" price no longer being advertised as x, but now as y.

That is the issue.

Ok Captain Principle, then report the adverts that you are referring too. Let the CPA do what it is they do.

Which is F.......all!

ABCO - you're right that we're responsible for what we spend; but look at the threads on Cajees where they make us work for the price. Customers feel they can ask to be looked after better than that.

There's got to be a market advantage for business dealing in a transparent way with customers. E.g. I wont give any time to a site / shop selling airline tickets giving the price before taxes.

Uk supermarket deals are really confusing buying multiple items and multiples of one item, and you end up going for a '8 for the price of 9' offer.

Pick and Pay often has it that the smaller packet is less per kg than the bigger one - its a ballsache.

Its simple, if you don't like Cajees, don't support them. If you know they are pushing up prices then go and support shop that don't.

I only buy chamois cream from them as they are in a convenient location and I insist on testing it in store before I buy.

If you know its happening, whats the issue....

If you know its happening and still fall for it, then LOL.

The same would apply to the rant and rave section here - don't complain about people ranting and then come and read the rants, only to complain about them ranting, in a rant thread. You also know its happening but come anyways and perpetuate it further .... How does that make sense? When you question nothing - you fall for everything

Ok then by your rules don't complain about my rant about their rant in the rant section and perpetuate it further.

I have no issue with people ranting, nor do I come here to complain about it as you did. Your only contribution was to complain about them ranting and then to mock other by calling them Cpt Principle. In fact one can pick up very useful information and avoid potential mishap. There are no rules but I was just pointing out the hypocrisy in your statement

I did not complain about their rant. I ranted about people not taking responsibility for themselves.

If you cannot see that then it makes sense why you need other people to warn you about advertising.

When you said we cannot moan about rants in the rant section you set a president about hypocrisy, which you then did in your next post.

He was called Cpt Princple because he could not substantiate a statement he made and then fell back on the "but its the principle of the matter" statement. Much like you did after you openly said you have insider knowledge of insurers blatantly screwing clients over. These statements you make tarnish industries that try their best to run their businesses, and make a living for themselves.

So rather go back to trying to poach peoples staff which they have invested in simply so that you can make a quick placement buck.

"I have no issue with people ranting"- You clearly have an issue with my rant, hypocrite!
