Uni phone the dealer principal.

Explain the issue with the Towbar and ask him to let you know today still when you can bring your car so that they can fix it.

Problem solved.

THIS MAN KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, DO IT

I phoned the supplier again now - told him i'm not prepared to take time off to take my car in again.

He said he'll call me tomorrow to arrange for one of their guys to come out to Midrand and check what's up.

I will send a mail to the Nissan dealership advising them of the stuff up. They're aware of the initial stuff up - but is seems they were the ones that supplied a bent towbar to these guys to install - but IMO it's just as bad that they're supposedly specialist but they installed a bent towbar anyway.

if they don't phone me tomorrow I"ll go throw some tantrums at the dealership and i'll do some aggro tweeting as well.

So supplier will come out and tell you, yes there is something wrong with the towbar (you already know that)

The Towbar was fitted by Nissan

You paid Nissan for the Towbar

Nissan made a profit

Nissan has to sort this out

Phone the DP, tell him whats up and they need to phone you when they can sort the problem out

If they need your car, you can drop it off and they take you to work.

If its going to take longer they need to give you a courtesy car.

if you say that's normal for a removable towbar i'm gonna believe you !

On my previous model Kia I had a removable towbar that did have quite a bit of movement and that was exaggerated by the length of the bike holder ..... my new one also has a removable towbar but it has a 'clever' bolt on the side you tighten that takes the movement away .... I can take a pic if you want?

Ja I hear you. I should never have dealt with the supplier directly.

tomorrow they're supposed to be sending the mobile installation unit - so they should be able to fix it at my office.

I know i'm being stupid but i'll give them one more chance.

fool me twice ....

I also raised a concern with the dealership but they advised that it is because of the towbar design.

But to answer your question, yeah mine is the same - it is the design of the removable Bosal towbar, and because of the clearance between the goose neck and the fitted part of the towbar when the pin is pushed through it can move a little bit to either side. I wouldn't know about other removable towbars in general but definitely for this one it is normal. I have had my car for just over 2 years, and have had no issues

I had a Merc with a detachable towbar and it had a Allan Key bolt at the bottom which you would need to tighten to take up the play. If you did not tighten it the rattling would drive you nuts if not towing something.

As mentioned my new one has a bolt as per this picture (I just took) which my old one didn't ....
