That is exactly the OPs point, I guess. You opened their website as a result of a misleading ad. Bait marketing, whether intentional or not.

well the op has given them more hits on their web page over the last couple of days thats for sure,,so the bait marketing clearly works very very well

Awesome , looks like I will also have to use this tactic to boost sales . Very clever . Just wonder if I will get the same response from reasonable people on other sites ?

i havent followed every cat fight, i have dropped in for some laughs, honestly i am more a piture type guy, if i saw the pictchas i would assume you buying what you seeing at that price,,,,,,,then again i know the approx. price of a set of XTs, and i would assume if you are specifically looking for XT its for a reason,,,YOU KNOW THEY GREAT you should do your homework and see whats the going rate, and do the maths if the going rate is between R2500-R3500(just a figure) then 1 lever and 1 caliper in a picture at half the price surely means one thing,,,,,,,,,,personally if you know enough to buy your own parts online you should have checked local price to see if it makes sense, local being phone LBS and work from a point??

I have wondered how closely connected some of the commentors on this thread are to Buycycle...

There have been some pretty aggressive / defensive comments on here.

Can we get back to the Wonderbra thing?........that was going somewhere interesting

Same issue really... Bait Marketing that misrepresents the real offering.

So we have two scenarios here...

1) The bike shop was dishonest in its advertising, and misled people in order to get more visitors to its website, which makes me not want to give them my credit card details because I can't trust them..

Funny, here you say its a bad thing to get people to click to the site, yet in the other thread you condone it when another shop did it. "Posted Today, 13:53

That's not from the original advert placed here.... This is http://www.cwcycles....7-disc-brakeset

That is not relevant. What is important is that you click the link in the advert and when you get to the site, it offers what you are expecting (or more in the case of those who think you need two brake sets on a bike).

Looks exactly like the advert placed for http://www.cwcycles....7-disc-brakeset this on the CWC Specials thread.... AVID ELIXIR 7 DISC BRAKESET

SAVE 41%

WAS R2900

NOW R1699

WHILE STOCK LAST

VISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR MORE DETAILS

Except that is really for a full set (front and rear). So a R3000 product (Which is what Elixer 7's can go for) can be sold for R1699 it seems? Unless I'm missing your point here, it seems this proves mine.

Picture shows only one, so how am I supposed to know?
