Ai ai - not another short cut.

I don't see how replacing a meal with caffeine and fat can be good for anyone. There is zero nutrition in bulletproof coffee.

Good, healthy eating combined with well planned training is enough.

The magic bullet that makes you thin, fast and good looking does not exist.

I do know of one substance that is bound to make your life better - sweat. The more the better.

Its not exactly a bullet coffe, but at Motherland coffee in Dunkeld theres one called the Dictator: Double Espresso, whipped cream and condensed milk  it moered me out of my brackets (Im am a lil sensitive to caffeine though) Was literally still jittery late last night and I had it before lunch..

Can you explain why you say so?

If you are following the HFLC diet, isn't the theory behind it to metabolize fat for energy instead of carbs?

If so, then there is plenty nutrition in BP coffee. It contains both grassfed butter and MCT oil, both of which should provide good nutrition for someone following this diet.

Plus caffeine as a drug has numerous beneficial properties.

Even if you are not following HFLC, fat is still a source of nutrition.

And for a bit of info for the OP:

first prize would be, Unsalted, grass fed butter, a decent wet process coffee, and MCT oil (can substitute with coconut oil, but MCT is better)

Disclaimer: I'm not expert in the field....this is just my opinion.

I think you're confusing energy and nutrition.

There is a lot of ENERGY in fats and oils but no NUTRITION.

1. You Are Displacing a Highly Nutritious Meal With Something That is Low in Essential Nutrients

It is generally recommended to consume bulletproof coffee in the morning instead of breakfast.

I’m not at all surprised that this can work…

Large amounts of fat should effectively kill the appetite for many hours, especially for people who are “ketoadapted” and used to eating a low-carb, high fat diet.

This could also provide plenty of energy by elevating ketone levels in the blood, which then become available as fuel for the brain.

These benefits are impressive… but there is a pretty obvious downside here, which is rarely mentioned.

Let’s assume that you’re used to eating 3 meals per day (very common). Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

By drinking bulletproof coffee, you are effectively replacing 1 of 3 nutritious meals with something that is low in essential nutrients.

Yes, grass-fed butter contains some fat-soluble vitamins (A and K2), CLA and butyrate. It’s good stuff.

But MCT oil is 100% empty calories. It is a refined and processed fat with no essential nutrients. It is also as far from “paleo” as a food can get.

Even though bulletproof coffee may contain small amounts of nutrients, this completely pales in comparison to what you would get from a nutritious breakfast.

I would agree with that, but most people dont drink bulletproof coffee to skip a meal. Its normally just to keep fat levels up or when you are hungry in between meals.

Eldron, the BP coffee used properly is just a tool to up your fat intake. I eat little, and consequently not enough fat to get to my target KJ for the day, this is a problem for me, because I do a lot of physical work and walking though the day, and I don't want my body to go into fasting mode.

BP coffee in the morning and then two healthy, nutritious, albeit fatty/oily meals later in the day. Small protein and a plate of green veg salad, or cooked veg.

My BP coffee,

home made butter, I know it's good, because I make it from my own cows milk, 30-40g,

coconut oil 30-40g, so much goodness in the cold pressed coconut oil, rather than MCT oil, that is made who knows how,

50g fresh cream, so thick it cannot be poured

50ml full cream raw milk, fresh from the cows,

1 double shot espresso

Not to every-ones taste, but it gets me through the morning.

Fair point - yours too RocketBoy

My post was aimed more at the fad diet quick fix magic bullet crowd than people like you that have obviously done your homework.

I sense a crossover merge with the coffee thread ;-)

Jip, I have been taking my version of the BPC (but I add Nomu to it as well for my version of a chocochino BPC). If you are on the LCHF lifestyle (like me for just over 2years now) this is a great way to get your daily % of fat up. I aim for a 80% fat so this is a nice early morning bump in the right direction. Honestly, it does taste great. In mine is 50ml CO, 25g KG butter, 75ml cream, 0.5 Nomu Skinny & 1 cup java. Fantastic! Edit.... if you are not on LCHF I do not see the need for the BPC.
