Peteee72 Posted December 24, 2015 Share Seriaaaas? I have a lot of respect for the brand itself (case in point Missy Giove and Rampage frame lend stuff, as well as the Basagoitia raffle) and this is a maaaajor step for them, given Gwin's form. Wonder why he left spesh?Moving to YT seems to be the case... Makes sense since they have the best freeriders in the business, why dont they nab the world cup leader aswell?? Nick Posted January 13, 2016 Share How's this for some good old fashioned rumour-mongering: http://mbaction.com/home-page/gwins-new-bike-sponsor-is-going-to-be A few weeks ago a rumor went out that for the year 2016, Aaron Gwin was going be riding for YT, the German mountain bike company that is now sponsoring Cam Zink. We sent an e-mail to our contacts at YT to see if they could confirm the report. YT wrote back and said they couldn’t comment on the matter. We also called and texted Aaron Gwin to see if he could tell us what kind of bike he’d be riding next. Gwin said he couldn’t tell us anything for a few more weeks. Today, longtime Mountain Bike Action staffer Zapata Espinoza returned to California after spending the weekend at the Cyclocross National Championships, and Zap tells us that Gwin will be riding for YT. Zap says he can’t tell us who told him, but Zap says it’s definite: Gwin is riding for YT in 2016.

Duane_Bosch Posted January 13, 2016 Share I'm not saying it's not going to happen but. It would be surprising to me for Gwin to be on YT. If the big S don't have the budget to pay him what he thinks he's worth how would a "small player" like YT have the money? Plus it's not only his wages. It would be setting up and running a team. No need to run a factory setup in that case. doing commercial spots for Audi and KTM suggests his demand for higher income (assumed from the whole break up with spesh) can be satisfied from a multitude of sources, not just one. I'm curious to see if he ends up with Martin Whiteley again.

Maybe his desire for "out of the industry" sponsors led him to YT as a frame supplier as they don't currently have a WC program. Just conjecture.
