bmw1za Posted September 18, 2014 Share Starting In AL (not looking forward to the Hurt )... Dropping To C feels like a Plan (grrrrrr). Chest Appears all healed(crossing fingers), Tired of lame excuses for a bad races. I foresee interesting breakaways in all bunches in spite of the wind
RastaMan Posted September 19, 2014 Share You can drop but it sounds like there are all mixed up groups they way i see it if you start early and a group of your pace comes along you can jump onBut if you start to late you might be on ur own. Iys a pity though

Jay_B Posted September 19, 2014 Share Don't want to get my hopes up but it seems the wind forecast has improved for Sunday... only gusting up to 8 km/h now However the rain for Saturday is looking more and more prominent, not good for the dirt section

Jay_B Posted September 19, 2014 Share I didn't do the race two years ago when it rained the night before but apparently it was an absolute stuff up for the majority of the guys who were on road bikes. Last year was no rain and the road was graded before and I found it better and smoother than some sections of tarred roads I have come across. rvdm1 Posted September 19, 2014 Share The seeding is totally messed up. I am seeded in a later group than all of my riding buddies despite having a way better seeding index, to make it worse, in the email my group is FL only to find out after number collection that it is now GL...sigh
Frosty Posted September 19, 2014 Share Unless it absolutely rains cats and dogs, stop worrying about the dirt road. I rode in GL 2 years ago, and yes it was fairly muddy but it was still rideable after all those bunches before had been through. The sub-surface is fairly compact/hard and with the grader/rollers working there before race day, the dirt road is exactly that... a dirt road, not a mud-fest single track
