This is a simple question with a slightly complicated answer...

Where on the cassette do you do most of your riding... It makes sense to line up the chainring with the most used part of the cassette.... This is also impacted by the size ring you run up front, how strong you are, and your preferred cadence...

But, the simpler version is somewhere near the middle of the cassette... That's where mine is, and I haven't had any issues. The chains seem to last equally as long as when I ran 2x10.

My Anthem is almost ready for its photo session!

One question. How would I know if my chain line is incorrect. Feels like its running cross chain if on the biggest cog gear at the back?

I have a slx 2x10 crank with pressfit shimano bb on an Anthem frame.

Only discovered recently than you can remove the indicators of your XT (or SLX) shifters. The cockpit looks even better now!

'Been running 1x10 since September last year. Still no regrets...and no clutch......and no chain drops...

hello everybody.

Just for the record I'm a 1 x 10 convert. My experience is that you need strong legs(balls!) and a light bike( 10 to 11kg's) if you plan to hit the mountains!

will post my 1 x 10 soon.

good old SLX crank with Raceface bash and Kalbo 32t upfront. at the back SLX 11-36

Can i use my Normal SLX 2x10 Chainring Bolts when i go over to 1X10? Or must i buy new Bolts?

If you use a 30T up front then you can cos it has little standoffs. Otherwise you'll need shorter bolts or spacers.

Yip. Use the existing ones. If you plan to add spacers to straighten your chain line a bit, then use the bolts from the inner chain ring. They're a bit longer...

I use 2 x 2mm washers to move the chain line in by 4mm.

Do i need to buy a Chainring Bolt Wrench? Or is there a faster way "easier way" to remove those bolts?

Then you will need new bolts, or cut them down with a Dremmel like I did to mine.

Or go get some 2mm thick spring washers at Builders Warehouse. That'll put your chainline slightly biased towards the larger cogs on the cassette which I think it better anyway.

A very wide flat screwdriver also works instead of the wrench. It's piss easy to do so don't stress about it :)

Given exchange rate and imort duties/VAT...rather go here ...AND they're local!

http://www.kalbo.co.za/productsGGG.html

R700 including shipping and VAT imported for both 40t and 16t

R850 for both 40t and 16t, local excluding shipping, still best local price.

I am now in the habit of buying chainrings, chains, brakepads and cassettes in bulk (2 to 3 sets) from alliexpress, saving R100 to R150 on every item.
