Has anyone tried this with a SLX Cassette? I'm already running a 1x10, but would like to add a 42 tooth cassette adapter. Just want to know if I can fit the adapter and a 16 tooth cog?

If your 15t and 17t cogs are separate and not pinned on the SLX cassette then you can do it. Also you need to be using a 11-36 cassette otherwise the jump is too much to the 42

Just converted my Spark 910 and I'm loving it!

32T Narrow Wide on the front, took out the 15T and 17T and replaced with a 16T, added a 40 expander on the back. Now I have just enough climbing gears, right amount of decent gears for those nice KZN dirty roads and enough gears in between for pacing through the nicest single track.

Very happy

And I lost 400 grams of weight on my bike too.

Could I please ask one of you to take a pic of the set up with the chain in the 42/40t and then also when on the smallest cog in order to visually see the chain length / der in both extremes.

Here you go.

Wolftooth 34T direct mount X0 on front, Wolftooth 40T on XT Cassette. XT Shadow clutch rear drl.

IMO that chain is way too short.

Looks fine to me. As if it goes much longer it will be really slack on the rest of the cogs cause there is such a big jump from the big cog to the second biggest etc.

I'm referring to the second pic where the chain is on the smallest ring. Assume a 11 tooth. My opinion is that there is already too much tension. My 1X10 setup (11-36) is in a far more relaxed position when on the 11 tooth. But if that setup is working then great.

Point taken :)
