I have seen how some people ride like utter @-holes around the Spruit, bearing down on people, just brushing past them and not allowing any right ow way.

I think the public might just be a tad gatvol.

Completely unacceptable - especially from the ward councillor. Think maybe a call to his party office is in order.

Maybe not vote for him either...

Ag, he is just taking his que from his chinas in Parly.

I see a few Stravassholes every weekend on the spruit, and then I see it everyday on the roads in my car- RSA society in general is the problem. Consideration towards other people is a scarce commodity...

That still doesn't make the woman's statement acceptable, nor does is make the DA councillors comments acceptable.

Is this any different to the odd threat posted on the hub to intentionally run over unleashed dogs?

As someone who uses the park for both for walking by dogs, and the occasional MTB ride when I get sick of being a roadie, I think I can see it from both points of view. All parties have to be respectful to other park users, and to be honest, there are a number of cyclists who are not.

Nice!!! I would post this on all social media to make te DA's name as bad as his attitude! And here aunty Helen is cycling with us in CPT! Not acceptable!

Am I the only one who saw this woman wearing fishnet stockings, stilletoes, a tight leather bodice with lace trimming, perhaps with a small whip in her hand? She's turned on by lycra, and seems to be inviting any cyclists with a deviant bdsm streak to almost run her over so they can be tortured in her dungeon.

No? You didn't get that? Maybe it's just me.

Just replace "cyclist" with "gay","black","women","poor" etc. and see if the venting is acceptable then.

As for the counsellor: as many as possible of us should contact the DA. I will look for their site tmrw.

I see some over reaction here. This is just some lady who vented because she felt that a cyclist was inconsiderate. The lady and the da guy responded inappropriately, but the cyclist was probably also to blame in some way or another.

So the bottom line is at we all should just all chill the f out and realise that we still have a nice, clean amd safe park to ride in. No naming, shaming, blaming or politics are necessary.

And use "Delta" or "Spruit" as your safe word....

Guys and gals, we need to chill a bit here. It's easier to ban cyclists than walkers. I'm probably just as guilty of riding too fast sometimes, but two or three people walking, each with 2 or 3 unleashed dogs are a frigging menace, and use up half a hectare of space, never mind second guessing where the hounds are going to dart to. Then worrying about being bitten... I've had dogs charging me many times, and the owners usually only half call them off... it's their way of getting back at us I guess. But you never know if the dog is going for the kill .. or not. Can be scary.

But the bottom line is we need to be tolerant, because I think us cyclists are the ones who'll lose out if push comes to shove.

Maybe we should look at putting in dedicated cycle paths

I'm off to delta park now with a group of 18, wonder how she will react when confronted by us??? Not your average cyclist build within our little circle.

Hahhaa no it wasn't just you. I think she read 50 shades of grey and all those Lycra clad backsides coming past got her revving.

But looking forward to seeing the councillor doing some back peddling.

sheez... in this rain?

with such a large group you should really rather go ride at a proper biking venue.

how will she react confronted by a group of 18 riders? after her tweet... I think we all know the answer, tongue in cheek comment from her or not.

as a cyclist I don't like large groups anywhere on the Spruit - stravassholes or novices - I think it is dangerous. to everyone. full stop.

anyway... those few "richardheads" the lady is tweeting about is not doing us considerate riders any favours and with the ward councillor in on it (douche move or not), we might be facing some headwind in the near future.

like RichieT said: it's easier to ban cyclists.
