Anybody got pictures of Crushers ride?

Posted

Grant has put a serious gap on John.....at 20km/hr that is a 2.5 hr kip before John even reaches him - both GU and AM had long sleeps at Race village 2 - i wonder if this is playing into his favour

The crusher can take a good 2 hour rest in Sutherland before Ntuli gets in, or push on and rest when the midday heat is at its worst. I cannot imagine how tired they all must be at this point.

Kudos to the 3 that got lost who is still riding. I would have put my bike on the first bakkie I saw and would have taken the next lift home if it was me.

Oh dear looks like Hannele & Patric got to the N12 & decided to turn around together before getting to the town of Victoria West, where as Rafeeq proceeded onto the R63 to rejoin the route.

At least it would have been dark and they would not have to see the same "scenery" again...

That was a +/- 140 km detour for them...

I wonder why Rafeeq did not opt to go back, will he still be able to take part / finish officially

the rejoined where they left off - correct?

that is mental space that I can only dream of entering. I think they deserve a prize just for that incredible feat of grit determination end endurance.

Rafeeq I think decided that the "race' was over but he wanted to finish still and therefore joined the course as close as possible without turning back. He won't be in contention but I certainly hope they will consider him as a finisher if and when he does

The back guys are 4 hours ahead of cut-off, so have a wee buffer heading for Rave Village 3.

Scratched riders have succumbed to the heat and windy conditions.

Only 4 riders have scratched so far. Impressive display of grit and determination. Yesterday riders had temps of 40C and strong head winds!

@KowusPelser Getting detail takes a while. The distance between the front and back rider is now 360km!
