Imagine the feeling after so many hours of bleeding something like a mechanical costs you the win

If anybody can sort a mechanical it would be Crusher. Hope it isn't one though.

Imagine stopping along the way for a power nap of 20-40mins only to wake up hours later, happened to me a couple of times. Not in a race but after a night of partying then straight to work on a Saturday morning.

in the spirit of the ride - do you think John asked of everything was ok and if he could help ?

I think John accidentally dropped, or some spares fell out of his tool bag. As mentioned before, Grant stopped, John came past, a km or so John stopped, and Grant came past, and then Grant pulled over and has been busy for almost 50 min. Pure speculation.

Grant Usher seems not to have  moved in 4h18 . . . . .

Still at the Tankwa Padstal

LE and VR have passed him.

He is in 4th position now . . .

Hope he is OK.

I would be pretty sure John would have asked if GU was ok? he is one of the nicest/humble guy's you will ever meet, and GU would have replied with yes unless it was a medical emergency. (well this is normally how things are handled at the pointy end of racing in my experience)

GU is still at what looks to be a hanger opposite the the Tankwa Padstal and his flag has gone transparent which means his bike has not moved for quite a while now.

JN is 3kms from race village 5 and 65km's ahead of 2nd place.
