Building a Cyclo Cross bike

Thanks for the feed back.

I am trying to do a road bike frame up  using a spare set of 29er rims I have lying around.

I am wanting to use these rims so I can run disc brakes.

But have been thinking that if I cant get enough clearance for a bigger tyre with those rims maybe I should invest in a set of 650b rims.

I will measure the clearance I have between the rim and the frame with my 29er rims and I will post that here and maybe somebody could give me a idea on what tyre would be best, just like cairbre suggested.

Keeping in mind it will not only be the 'height' of the tyre but also the width that may be an issue on a road specific frame?

Not to mention the hub spacing!

Can the frame fit disc calipers? Also the 29er rims are probably made without a brake track so you would not be able to use them with normal brake calipers

So the hub spacing is correct, I have had the rims on the bike with 700 x 23c tyres already.

I am busy making up a bracket to hold the disc brake caliper on the frame.

The thinking I am having with the 650 b rims is that it will give you more clearance with the height and it will also help with clearance for the width, the smaller diameter rim will mean you are further away from the "tapers" of the frame

I have converted a 29er hard tail – was quite easy and cost effective.

More of a “monster bike” than an actual cyclo cross bike, but does the same…

Trying to find 650b cross wheels that are decent is tough.

if its a road frame the rear wheel spacing will be 130mm, a disc brake hub will be 135mm..

Gents, I need some assistance please!

I am looking for a set of TRP HY-RD cable to hydro brakes. My new build has disks and I am keeping my cable sti's.

Please PM me if you can assist or know where I can purchase them from.

And if someone has upgraded to Hydraulic and has a set of cable actuated ones they want to get rid of...

What's 5mm between friends  :D

I have fitted the rims into the frame with the discs and it fits no problems
