So, here is my last experiance with Action Cycles. Please note I only saw this add this morning.

Yesterday on my way home at 5:15 I call Marco to ask him if he can squeese something in for me before they closed(5:30)

I had my crappy old roadbike on the back of my car and wanted to fit a crankset I got off The Hub. Thats something one should be embarraced about but I could not get the old BB off. So I call Marco and his response is, Sure Stefan, Bring it in.

I went in, he showed me where the tools were and when I couldnt get it right he came over and helped me fit the new BB. Then he asked me where the cranks were, I had left them in the car as I was going to fit them at home. He insisted that I go fetch them so we can do it properly, 5:30 had now come and gone. So He helped me fit the cranks that I did not buy from him and Proceded to whish me a nice evening when I left at 5:45pm. Take Note, Devon has been off sick for 2 days and he has been left to run the shop by himself.

I should note that 2 weeks ago I built my first wheel, and after basically "assembling the wheel and spokes" I took it to Marco to tension and dish. The wheel is still true and he didnt even charge me.

Thats my experience of Actions since the first time they worked on my bikes back in Chippini street 2005.

Very one sided story

I would like to hear his version

I really hope Marco appears and tells us the rest of the story as it's obvious the OP doesn't plan on doing so. The suspense is killing me besides keeping me out of work. :cursing:

The truth:

The OP hardly knows Marco and actually has no gripe.

But he has a 14y old sister who hates him.

Sister reads the open hub pages on OPs iPad and notes that eveybody likes AC.

She grabs the Pad and writes the rant, changes OPs password and hides the iPAD.

OP gets skinned alive by the Hub, banned from the bikeshop, misses out on the latest Christmas deals and is totally stuffed without even knowing what is happening!

The End

More accurately, no longer in south african law as of 2006 with publication of the Defamation Act 2005. In my view, there is diminished character by implication. It's these 'trivialities' that can sway potential clients. You can speak for yourself if you feel otherwise, but this is the court of public opinion.

The laws of the Great Island of Australia do not carry weight in South Africa. The Defamation Act of 2005 is only applicable in SOUTH AUSTRALIA (a different SA), although other AUSTRALIAN states have similar legislation.

In SOUTH AFRICA:

Defamation (infringement of one's fama (reputation)) = infringement of personality right = delict = Roman- Dutch law (SA common law) specifically the actio iniuriarum ie. a few centuries.

Slander/libel = Britain/USA/Good Wife/Suits/ LA Law/Bad Judge/etc.

In South Africa, one defames another.

Zuma claimed that Zapiro DEFAMED him by publishing those very humourous cartoons about him. Steve Hofmeyer claimed that he was DEFAMED by a hand puppet.
