I think take an ad out about rogue riders, use a few pics of riders including these two. Ask the question, can you guess who is riding illegally? and then state the seriousness regarding the law jail term etc with regards to trespassing, or even that trespassers will be shot!!

One has to be brutal these day as no one gives a )(*(^(*&*^&*^( about the law and will just laugh in your face

Reading through the posts... I am a non-member, used to ride Meerendal and Hoogekraal every now and then and always put my money into the honesty box - should I get nervous to encounter anyone who wants to be "brutal these days" - as I won't have a board. Or does the honesty pay-per-ride system not exist anymore?

If you ride on the trails where non-members are allowed you won't have any problems. these chops were riding where even members aren't allowed to ride, hence the uproar.

eggzackery! The relationship with Bloemendal is a new one and with land access being granted for no longer than 12 months to the club from land owners, these knobs endanger not only the land access, but the considerable investment that TBMTBC make. If this continues, the land owner simply does not renew the agreement next year, and all the trails created go to ruin. Remember Kliprug? Lekker trail to ride until 2 riders swore at the land owner who confronted them. Now his cows have bermed paths to graze on and A frame bridges to scratch themselves against.

Not to mention that the new trails there were built by none other than Mr Garden Route Trail Park & G Spot Extraordonaire himself, Mark Gordon

I guess it is too much to ask to expect these rogue riders to consider the bigger picture before they trespass. Imagine Bloemendal terminate the agreement due to these 2 trespassing. I wonder if the club would be able to claim damages against these 2?

I'd like to see land owners pressing charges as well. Perhaps have a journo from Tygerburger cover the story too. Public humiliation and the inconvenience can be a powerful deterrent.

Would be nice but unfortunately much easier for the owner to go the Kliprug route and just ban mtb'ers from their farm all together & I don't blame them, if I was a landowner I wouldn't want to go through all the schlepp of courts & newspapers just to get illegal people off my farm.

Been thinking about this now.

You can take a photo of someone and post it on social media looking for their contact details. Maybe it is safer to post something like.

"Please identify these riders and send us contact details." (that way no-one gets their nose out of joint, wrt accusations etc)

Once you contacted the riders, a suspension from all races/trails in the western cape (PPA, W2W, Jonkers, Mdal etc)

I think the suspension will be the "safer" way to go....and if a rider is caught again while on suspension then maybe the land owner can lay a charge off trespassing with the SAPS.(not for it to go to court, but at least it is on record)

If all the clubs etc stand together they can have pictures of suspended riders at the entrance to a trail/race for example Meerendal and said rider can not enter......same at the night ride etc.

That's what was discussed last year at the AMARider symposium on trail building / maintenance / control. A blanket ban.

The sad reality is that it is very hard to enforce. Imagine first having the attendant taking your trail fees go through a mugshot file to see if your face was in it. Then there is the cost of maintaining the database, validation of offences etc. It becomes a separate animal to feed.
