Going down to the coast on 30th and returning on the 4th of Jan. Would really love to attack Holla trails!

Wife has insisted on flying down and I really want to take my bike with.

Does anyone have a bike bag I could borrow for the flight? I ride a Trek Superfly 100 DS 29", any help would be appreciated!

If you don't come right with a bag you could always use a cardboard bike box from a bike shop. It's light and works fine.

do this.

+1 on the cardboard, I was also looking for a bag but came to the conclusion that the bike is as safe if not safer in a cardboard box. just buy yourself a role of bubble wrap and some tape and you are good to go. I travel a lot with my full sus 29er and all I do is remove the front wheel and seatpost and turn the pedals to face inwards then wrap everything up in bubble wrap.

Then I chuck in any spares/clothing/pumps/family gifts etc until the box weighs exactly 20kg so I get every cent worth:)

Just remember to pack extra tape for when you are coming back.

If you cant get a box from the bike shop you can also try a windscreen place like pg glass. I needed a big box for a tandem once and got one from my local pg glass. While I was there I saw a box from a lexus windscreen and the box was seriously thick and strong, It was also very heavy. Had extra support in it as well. It was too small so I didn't take it but most of the boxes from the windscreens where a bit stronger than the bicycle boxes.

How is this for awesome service?

Phoned Northcliff Cycles where I bought the bike a year ago, they will provide a box and pack the bike for R100.

Now that is simply awesome!

That is awesome, but you don't want to arrive at your destination and realise there is a bolt or 2 missing.... (they may have to take the bars off to fit it in the box.)

Going on holiday soon and we have 26er bike bags...does anyone know if 29er's fit into these (because I dont think so).

If you have a 26er bike bag and a 29er, why don't you just put the bikes in there and see if they fit? Or am I reading the question hopelessly wrong?

Because....The Hub? Why must I do it when I can just ask for advice from a host of experts :) And...you have clearly never packed a bike before. It's a massive pain in the ass.
