Swearing idiot at Paul Cluver today

To the 2 guys (older and younger chap) at Paul Cluver who swore at me today, not cool dude, not cool.

I asked (including please) for your other friend to move out he way at the top of the single track, otherwise I would have crashed into him or your son/younger friend blocking the exit of the single track.

There was no need to swear at me and shouting that the guy holding me up on the single track was deaf!

My version is:

I am barrelling down the single track seeing a guy standing beside the track 50m ahead of me.  As I reach him, he decides to mount his bike right in front of me.  (You were nowhere in site at this point)

Okay, so I realize he must be a novice which is confirmed by him cranking the granny gear zig-zagging across the 4% ascent single track.

I stay quiet and patient giving him his space.

The next 100m, I stay behind him patiently, because this chap has no intention of letting me pass.

30 meters before the exit of the single track, its kicks up to 12% ascent and he runs out of steam and dismounts, with me almost crashing into him. In fact, as I tried to pass him on his right, he blocks my path!

I nearly fell.

He walks up, I mount my bike and crank it out.

At the top he slows down to a stop at the exit of the single track, with your son/young friend standing on the other side.

I had nowhere to go.

That is when I shout "Please move out the way".

  1. Swearing at another cyclist not cool.
  2. That language in front of your son (I take it), not cool.
  3. I could not know your mate was deaf.
  4. Your disabled friend was clearly out of his depth on this single track. (shame on you)
  5. If you take a disable person on the single track (that they can manage), at least have someone in front and behind him to protect him from himself and other cyclists. If this dude had dismounted/crashed around a blind switchback/berm it would have be a nasty accident for an approaching rider.
  6. If he had fallen, how long would he have lying in a ditch before you would have looked for him?
  7. Careful who you swear at.  It might be to the wrong guy, having a bad day which might not end well for you.

Any way, the ride was lekker in spite of you.

These monologue type rant threads which pop up after an interaction with another MTBer / roadie / taxi driver / BMW asswipe / shemale are becoming a tad tiresome.

Why was the deaf guy ahead of you if you he was out of his depth on the single track?

If Rider A departs before Rider B, it therefore stands to reason that Rider A would be ahead of Rider B. If Rider A is out of his depth and Rider B isn't, then Rider B would catch up to Rider A in due course. Make sense to you? our should some-one draw you some pictures
