Dissapointing to see okes cheating

On road races, results are only made official after around six weeks, to allow for glitches and errors to be sorted out.  That's why the cyclelab index (if it's still going) seemed painfully out of date when you wanted that recent result included in your seeding index.

Be slow to accuse individuals solely on the basis of the timing companies' records, especially the first runs.

Must have also happened to the guy that came 9th.

Index of 46.61 and last race index (2 weeks ago) was 54.20.

I feel so dirty looking at other peoples indexes... like a stalker or something.

Keeping them honest :-)

In the case of this race at BRB, my take is these are riders that enter the 50km, but when the get to the 50km/30km split, they take the 'short-cut' home. Only doing 30km, but registering a time for the 50km.

Sure, I hear you. The 4 races he did in 2014 was all marathon distances. But I'll concede that yes time keepers might also get it wrong ;)

Hmmm yes, the case you described does seem fishy :)

Ps: where do you guys see other people's indexes? I need to use my ID number to see mine?

I would like to see race organizers take up some responsibility here too. Arrange an extra timing mat or 2 beyond points where shortcuts are likely to be taken and marshall the route better.

You can search by name, ID number or SAS number

Your race number and/or name can be used to search your seeding index.

Noticed there was (in the 50km) a D and two C batch riders in the top 25 of results, started in B and definitely no batches caught our group in that batch. But these results are provisional and the timing guys pick up on this kind of thing anyway.
Either way, I was happy with my race and had a good time. For me that's all that really counts, was a great day out.

I think route designers also need to put up their hands. If you cannot mark a proper 50 km route in a particular area, keep it down to 40km. There is nothing more debilitating than riding a zigzag route just to make up distance.

Don't think this can be a rationalisation at all.

Given the area around Red Barn it is is a proper 50km route, with plenty variety of singletrack. Not once did I feel debilitatated or as if I was riding just to make up distance.

The guys do a good job of maximising the terrain in the area, as well as ensuring people's safety. Given the close proximity to Tembisa.

I'm concentrating so hard on the trail I don't have a clue where the "shortcuts" are.

Knowing my luck, I'd dodge through the trees only to re-ride a bit I'd already done once!

I don't know the route mentioned. I noted my own experience on quite a few occasions. You have to ask yourself why so many allegedly cheated in the event. If the route leans itself to a shortcut or 2, the organizers really need to step up and marshall the route better.

If you take a shortcut because you are stuffed, or crashed or struggle, you should NOT ride over the finish line timing mat. That way you will not get a time, and that will make it OK in my book.

(One of my mates once took a shortcut back to the finish during a 55km race, got lost and ended up riding over 60 kms. We pulled his leg for a bit after that!)

That sounds familiar...

I was just too stuffed to try and cheat.  And in anycase, I paid for 30km, why should I ride less???  I DEMAND to ride what I paid for.

Agreed RE the marshaling. Would be even better if it was backed up by some serious sanction where people are caught.

I just start to laugh for this superfast riders. Fortunately you must live with your consciences. But the wheel always turn.

strange feeling when you finished and see persons you passed already with their medals around their neck and proud of themselves.

Seems it is already part of our society

Were there medals being dished out?!
