Maybe not super tough, but no flat sections to recover.Either you climb or you hang on for dear life and hope you don't push the guy behind you off the road when you hit the loose stuff in all that dust. How do you do a 4h if you have push up the wapad and when everybody is in granny gear on those long climbs at De Vlugt and the climb after that.Difficult to overtake

Has anyone used Beukes Toere previous years to shuttle between Knysna and Uniondale? Were they found to be safe and reliable?

I used them for 2 years now. Very safe and reliable. Pick up is at the Waterfront. This way I don't have to worry about logistics and my wife and son can sleep late on Sunday morning in Knysna.

easy, train more, get an earlier start by doing as many races as possible, then you start with faster guys & girls who don't push up those climbs & get in your way, get early in your start chute, it pays to start right in front of yor group.

Does anyone know how the seeding works for K2C ? It's my first one, but really don't feel like walking up Wapad if I can help it...

edit: SASeeding?

From the website. It provide some info:

Q: How is my seeding calculated and who is seeded?

A: Pre-entrants are seeded according to their national seeding index. Racetec will manage this seeding process and will also take the 2014 Lions Karoo to Coast results in to consideration. Entrants entering after the pre-entries date and at the event registration will not be seeded.

Learned that the hard way last year, was cunningly deceived by the "Elite" title on my bikeboard and started at the back of the group, turned out more than half of the group would probably have been faster up the Ou Wapad if they got of their bikes and walked.

Very frustrating - if there is a next time I'll make sure I'm at least in the front half of the group when we start.

hahaha we always learn the hard way me to, if you check the video or photgraphic footage of 2014, you'll find the only amateur starting next to the likes of Erik, Lill, etc. in fact at most races if i'm on time.

so the short answer is do as many races as you possibly can, racetec timed ones & by the looks of it ones that SAS Index takes into consideration as well & nail them.

Hi guys,

So as a first time K2C rider I was hoping for different opinions on the training needed.

I am ideally hoping to finish in a time of 5hrs or thereabouts.

Nice loooong climbs and looong fast downhills with loose gravel on the corners mixed with dusty conditions.Make sure you can do 100km with ease.FUN!!!
