Are you using your Fly6 yet?

yes, no scary footage yet although I have picked up footage on my "gopro" knock off camera.

I have had issues with it charging and holding charge .... how is yours doing?

To the Director, Schmidhauser Electrical, Cape Town, 97 Loop Street, Cape Town, 8000

Please would you advise your staff not to illegally park in the dedicated cycle lanes as per the pic attached and also please refer to the link of a thread where this is was noted. It should also be noted that your company parks in the lanes numerous times a day and multiple vehicles too. I have before seen more than one of your vehicles parked in the green lanes at the same time.

We are as a cycling community put at risk every time a vehicle is parked or uses the dedicated green cycling lanes and are therefore working towards ensuring that other users are aware of and respect the green cycling lanes.

I will also be copying this email to the thread in order for the other users of that stretch of road to be aware that you have been notified in writing thereof.

Kind Regards

Hehe, that is funny. Did the same to Daniel Schmidthauser and told him that he is off all tender lists for electrical contracts from now on. At the end the behavior of his staff in this situation does reflect their attitude in general. I would not want to have somebody like that do our electrical work. Simple.

He did reply in very apologetic manner and assured that this would not happen again. The cars were back the next day. Useless.

we often tender out electrical work and will most certainly take them off the tender list from now on, or until they clean up their act.

wonder if the "always on" slogan as seen on the side of the car is meant to say "always on the cycle lane"

I like what you are saying, but won't mark their cars ..... unless it is a non-permanent marker :P

Maybe we should arrange a meet and populate the cycle lane with our bikes. Preventing the parked cars there from leaving. When the cops come and ask us to move we will reply with 'is there something wrong with standing on the bike lane?' And get some media behind this too.

From  the above article:

“We do, however, also need our cyclists’ assistance with this campaign. We would like them to take ownership of the cycle lanes and to be our eyes and ears on the road. I therefore want to appeal to the cycling fraternity to please report transgressors to the City. I can assure them that the City’s Traffic Service will take action and enforce all illegal parking and stopping in the cycle lanes.”

Cyclists wishing to report any illegal activity on the cycle lane may do so to the Safety and Security Directorate on 021 596 1999. Cyclists can also report transgressors to the Transport Information Centre on 0800 65 64 63.
