milky4130 Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 I once heard a saying: "Children don't know colour.... They are taught colour by their parents...." I was thinking the same thing what does a young laaitie born in the late 80's know about the K word? Who taught him this, where did he first hear it?
W@nna-BE Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 one of the riders mentioned is a forum member, wonder if we will get a response from him
GlockG4 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Day and Jooste don't deserve to enjoy the sport we love, I think some prison basketball would be better.surely you must be kidding? I am not saying what they did was ok(if the report is taken as fact) but to suggest that someones life should be destroyed because he used a racist word is utterly stupid. Are you so perfect that you have never said something in the heat of the moment that you regret afterwards? I am not saying that(IF ITS TRUE) they should not be punished, but the punishment should fit the crime, and hurting someones feelings is not equal to going to jail. Just remember these guys are competitors, and whe have all seen to what lengths some people will go to beat their competitors.
FrankG Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 If the insult did happen it really pi$$es me off. Just one knob with a loose mouth and racism will rage across forums and social media, setting us all back even further.
HDW Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I was thinking the same thing what does a young laaitie born in the late 80's know about the K word? Who taught him this, where did he first hear it?The same place black and coloured kids learned to call white people "whitey", etc, with the same intention as white people saying the K word. Racism is never necessary, and it can not be defended at all. But I'm also getting over the fact that ALL white people are the Big Bad Wolf in SA. Because some white people are racist gives no one the right to say all white people are racist. That is like saying that all black people are corrupt and steal money because some black people in the ANC does. Its not fair and not right. We really need to move on from this mindset.
Paddaman Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Now to let the wolf out of the bag and the tiger among the pidgeons. ROAD CYCLING is an ELITEIST UPPER CLASS sport, where entry is limited by equipment costs, inside dealing, a elusive code and culture. Poor people, and even middle class people are not welcome, regardless of colour. If you don´t have rich parents or wiling sponsors you will never really be welcome, no matter how good you are. SAD TRUTH

These are genuine questions, are you offended when someone refers to you as "whitey" & has there been a case where someone was convicted as being Racists for calling someone "whitey" ?
Wyatt Earp Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 P.S. These are genuine questions, are you offended when someone refers to you as "whitey" & has there been a case where someone was convicted as being Racists for calling someone "whitey" ?Or "honky" Why don't we get so offended when our colour gets dragged in to it ?Good question that .
milky4130 Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Or "honky" Why don't we get so offended when our colour gets dragged in to it ?Good question that .I've never heard of "honky" before
GlockG4 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 P.S. These are genuine questions, are you offended when someone refers to you as "whitey" & has there been a case where someone was convicted as being Racists for calling someone "whitey" ?I take offence when someone refers to me as whitey or 'jou boer', but I am not going to call the papers or try and end someones career because of it. You live in SA, we have a history of racial issues, have a thicker skin and be a big boy.
Joe Low Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I've never heard of "honky" before It was big in the '70s.......about as big as the collars around that time.
dre Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I take offence when someone refers to me as whitey or 'jou boer', but I am not going to call the papers or try and end someones career because of it. You live in SA, we have a history of racial issues, have a thicker skin and be a big boy. The two highlighted parts are very contradictory and hypocritical. How can you say one must have thicker skin, just after you said you take offence to those terms.
carbon29er Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 So the whiteys are immediately tarred and feathered by libtards and should be burnt at the stake. Any-one care to hear the other side? Was he really called a k...er, or is he trying to cover up something or for some one? Was the young rider the only one being pushed, or did he do some pushing of his own? I heard a different story, but it is nice to see everyone finding them guilty before all the facts are known. Must be because they're white and the victim black...When last was a white, as you so quaintly put it, called the k word? Isn't that the point of this thread?
DJR Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Throw the book at them and ban them permanentlyWithout a fair hearing? Without credible witnesses and weighed evidence? Without a judgement and a punishment to fit the crime? I fear for the future of cycling if this is how it should be done.
milky4130 Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 It was big in the '70s.......about as big as the collars around that time. And for that i thank my parents for not teaching those words to me.
