SBR. It has almost the same amount of climbing but it is shorter with about 35km shorter. I know cyclist who did a 3.30 last year at 94.7 and struggling to finish the big loop without walking at sbr.

SUIKERBOS is short but tough, if you try and do a decent time on the 94.7 it is tougher than suikerbos in my opinion.

I did sbr for the first time on sunday and found it really tough. Did it on a borrowed road bike and really missed the granny gears on my MTB. In two minds now which bike I should use for 947.

Did 947 last year on the MTB  in just over 5 hours.

I need a 28-11 cassette to do SBR comfortably, and I road last years 94.7 on a 23-11 and it was ok.  (Note I have a compact crank with 34/50 rings)

Not sure exactly what gears you have, but you should be ok.

Don't worry, I've said that before at the 947 - I won't be back.

Been wondering, whats a good or average time to finish the race in?

I did my first race in 2013 and finished in 4 hours and 15min, last year I did it in 4 hours. Not sure what would be a good av time.

What bike you on?

Am dong 94.7 this year first time on a mountain bike. Well rigid ht,bit different I suppose. Did sbr on sat,the long loop. Was tough especially in the heat. ( we got there at 6am and they only open gates at 7) feel less stressed now after reading these comparisons between the 2 ...going back on sat for more punishment .

I was aiming for 3:30 on SS, but if I can keep up with the bunch I'll definitely do that. Last year we started late and there was no pace line to join.

For the folks in 'I' batch, please can I get a show of hands from people who are targeting sub 3:00, so I can see how many people we're going to have in the I-Team pace line (and how many people I'll be working for on the day).
