From the starting times posted a few pages back, groups 0,A and B had the same start time with group C starting 10 minutes later each day. Surely if you are then feeling strong on the day you should be able to draft your way to the front - or the front ladies?

Apologies if I'm missing the point completely...

no chance, if you're not in the front of the groups. The concertina effect is not to be underestimated.

But that doesn't mean you can't put some time into the people in front of you by putting the hammer down. 2 minutes over 100km is not a lot of time.

Did she not have a chance to get her seeding sorted from the prologue ?

In that case Milky, whether it;s top three or five the team just couldn't cut it so it seems .

thats not her gripe, she was never here to race it or contend for top honors everyone knew that before Epic started. IMO it's more that the women never started together. Those that were in contention & did not start in the Top 5 or Top 3 had the disadvantage.

It's easy for everyone to jump on the band wagon here when you were not in the situation.

I would like to ask a question.  In a situation like this where a rider is sponsored, surely what they say and complain about needs to be considered to prevent negative publicity for the sponsors?  And if there is a valid complaint, maybe a public blog is not the best place to voice it.  If there really is a problem is it not the teams management that will lodge objections on the rider's behalf ?  Correct me here please if I have it wrong....

They were 8th after st1, but on st2 should have started at the front as it was a hotspot stage.

They were still 8th after St2, so wouldn't have started in the front on 3 even though they were within an hour of 3rd place

6th after st3, 45 min off the nr 1 spot, so same result as above

Her partner pulled out in stage 4, so from there she wasn't part of the race anymore.

What I'm gathering she is saying position is irrelevant women should start together.

Standrads, seems they are a tad on the low side there by you .

I don't know, I think she's ok.

Simple solution is to make all the teams with x% of the leading time start together. Those will be the ones who have the ability to take a stage win.

If you are not in the time frame, who else can you blame but yourself.

The clever race organisers can work out what x should be.

that would constitute special treatment... Not all women are pro teams, and there are far more pro mens teams than womens teams. The contention for those top places amongst the men is FAR more fierce.

Whether she was here to race or not, what did she expect ?

To be treated like the only lady in the race ?

This is Africa, she had the entire prologue to sort herself out .

What situation ?

Where she wanted a cushy time in the field amongst a bunch of ladies and still come in far back in the field but still feel quite content that she was competitive in a race specifically created for her.

No doubt that picture does wonders for her.

Oodles of face paint and a push up type bra and we have a winner.

Here she is, the way nature intended .

correct, only it took me 17kms on 2 separate stages to catch our mates in the GM category, you can equate that to minutes. As previously mentioned you just don't see the front guys ever again & that's within minutes of the start.

Exactly, and that is what she really wanted.

It's Epic sweetheart, it's Africa's toughest MTB event .

Africa is not for sissies .

Thing is, they did. But even then they need to make limitations - it's the top 5, limited to a time of within an hour of the 3rd place womens' team.

There is a simple logic behind it, they are just that much faster .

you just won't understand cause you've never been there before, so no point in debating this further.
