Tygerberg: Is it just me or were the trails flooded yesterday?

I caught 4 youngsters on Sunday going up the corridor from Meerendal side to Conters...Needless to say two of them were members, the other two of which one was sporting his green board and the other nothing and yet they claimed to have paid... :cursing:

I politely escorted them down to where they came from and they had to find their way home. Sorry but rules are rules.....

So yes i hope that all the day visitors keep with the rules of the club...

Might be an idea to put trail rules on a board in the major parking areas?

I know hoogekraal do not have any slips like at contermans, but do the other trails have slips to prove payment?

Wonder if the Epic coverage has anything to do with the trails at Welvanpas and Tygerberg being busy or if its just due to Tokai and Jonkers being out of action.

I know we decided we had to go do a trip to Paul Cluver and Oak Valley after the footage reminded me of how much fun it is out there. I think the amazing singletrack at Welvanpas is relatively unknown to many.

Not sure about slips, but in this case it was a corridor which is members only.

Might be that as well. I saw the new single track at Meerendal on tv and wanted to ride it so that is why i made my way there. It is also a very good possibility that  trail closure due to fire sends the flock this way. I just hope the trails hold up till the first rains so that Patrick and his gnomes can mend some of the damages

Hoogies has the honesty box. No slips. Contermans has the slips but only if you get to the goat shed when it opens otherwise i think its honesty box as well. Its good to know these things so that when you catch these cheap skates on the trails that you can see through all the BS when they spin you a story

Well I will be enforcing on the corridors and members only trails as far as bike boards go. I would be highly agitated to lose trails like happened with Kliprug.

I also feel that perhaps TBMTB club should consider capping the amount of bike boards issued to limit the amount of traffic on the trails in order to avoid congestion and trail demise.

Hoogekraal has got "Snapscan".

Only problem is to get signal there. Our one guest had trouble on Saturday, resorted to popping his R30.00 cash into the Honesty Box.

Capping the amount of bike boards seems like a bad idea.

More bike boards = more revenue = more trail upkeep = more sustainable trails.

Yep, and an incentive for rogue riding - " I wanted to buy membership but it was full..."

ot: Majik Forrest- The gate at the top of the vineyards seems to have a new lock on with the combination lock out of the "loop". That was Sunday.

Or did I not look correctly?

Hoogekraal has to be #1... Both descents are absolutely epic, in their different ways, but the Cobra is my absolute favourite. You have to hit all the jumps though and do it as fast as you can.

Hey, I'm on a hardtail so while the cobra is good fun, I've got to hang on for dear life lol!

Thanks to the guys at Decorton who gave us materials at cost, the Bloemendaaler descent is being rehabilitated with terralite blocks (not great in the mind of the purists but if it makes the trail rideable year round then I'm not complaining). The climb is completed and Patrick is busy with the descent.

Yip it does - code is 1357 (lock installed as a compromise after gates were closed last year). Gate lock at D'Aria near the sub-station has the same code.
