is it the Fuji SLM 29? If so - then no wonder. It's a sub-kilo lightweight race frame. Not built for us fatties...

TBH you should never have been sold one considering your size.

Problem is the pimple faced kid that works in the shop to pay off the sponsored tyres and chains that he gets handed.... I strongly doubt he bothers to ask how much the client weights and if the bike has a weight limit.... Almost guaranteed that the lightvweight costs more than the bufallo category build and that either means more comission or shop credit...

This depends ENTIRELY on the shop of course.

I started cycling 3 years ago and weighed 147kg's. My first bike was a second hand Cannondale Rize 4 carbon. Had no issues and used it down to 120kg's. Bought a Scott Spark 940 alu and later a Scott Spark 920 carbon. No issues on either of them either. I'm not exactly a racing snake, but also no slouch. It has to be said that the dual suspensions and all my bikes may have helped to protect the frames somewhat. I traded the 920 for a Specialized epik comp carbon and also no issues there.

I'm now down to 107kg's and would still not consider a hardtail, even in alu. Upgrade to stronger components and there should be no reliability issues.

I go with solid tyres and a basket on the front to keep the cheeseburgers.

I'm getting a basket sprayed for my cruiser...

That bike could handle any rider's weight...even my recently increased girth...

I am 122kg and built like a brick sh!t house as some Hubbers can vouch for. I mainly ride a Ghost amr wich is carbon. Bike is a few years old and had its fair share of thrashing. Not once have I had an issue with the carbon frame. I also have a few ally frame bikes and have not had any issues with them either, in fact ally is more prone to cracking because of vibration and harmonics. Some food for thought.......
