But the part on the right should be ridden between the trees, a lot more fun!

I have however lately noticed a lot more people walking on that section and then when I come to a complete stop behind as to not speed past them, I get a disgusted look as if I nearly killed them.

sure and thats how we do it, there is however a little part just before you join the last "tree part" where it comes close to a footpath....footpath = dogs / people / children and that there is the issue.

I honestly believe it won't be long before the whole emma / garden will be off limits...few spoiling for the rest...might even be better that way

Botanical garden section is off limits to bicycles....its also the part where I see the most these poephols bombing at great speed.

So, if you hit a child as an example or a drunk hobo you are immediately in the wrong...you shouldn't have been there to start with...Kind of like when a person without a license is involved in an accident, they shouldnt have been there to start with so the accident wouldnt have taken place and thus 100% blame sits with him.

So what actually defines this area, would like to know for myself. Other than that, I assume we have as much right to be there as anyone else.

Botantical gardens...we are not allowed(yet we still ride there), emma dam we cool. However the bulk of the "dick hotspots" are in the botantical gardens. WE HAVE NO RIGHTS THERE and people are buggering it up for all.

Look bottom line, just ride slow through the park...because there are other people and dogs there that you could potentially hurt. Simple really.

The by-law for all joberg park state NO vehicle can go faster than 5km/h. So there you have it

"drive, draw or propel a vehicle in excess of five kilometres per hour" which speaks to this general prohibition

"may not act in a manner which is dangerous to life or property"

Their current master plan actually reduces the dog walking areas significantly - says nothing about cyclist though...

Demmit, that outfit say one thing...."houding pappie". I think you will be cool..children, dogs and especially woman will run from you so no danger. Voel-liefhebbers on the adder hand might actually run towards you.

It wouldnt surprise me if they ban cyclists outright...we have a terrible rep. I have non cycling friends in the area and whenever we at a dinner party, my head hangs in shame when the "spruit" comes up.

Don't worry - there are plenty of active cyclist that live in the are that will fight any ban - including me - even the local ward councellor is agains any such ban.
