And can it be done in a clear-coat.

I got a quote a year ago from a company that does the 3m wrapping on cars. I think it came to about R1200! I was interested in an additional clear layer to protect the paintwork on my MTB.

This also wasn't for the entire bike either.

Cheaper to get it sprayed then.

The place is called Super Wrap.

You can just get the plastic sheeting itself from Maizey's or Cape Plastics, I think. Droo knows where to get it...

Somehow I don't think a normal traditional vinyl wrap would work very well on a frame. Way too many seams and it just wont look good.

Best is to spray.

that's my sense as well. Hence when the company quoted me, they clearly stated that on the " straight areas" would be covered - i.e. Top Tube, down tube etc. The risk of product peeling on the bends would also need to be considered resulting in it looking rather crap!

PM sent

Thanks for the help! Appreciate it! Could you PM me with details as well. I am in the Cape, maybe he knows of someone close bye. Think with courier costs it could work out quite expensive.

I bought a new Spez Epic frame about 3 years ago and before building the bike I had it wrapped by a car vinyl wrapping business.

It was done in a few hours, cost about R600 and lasted perfectly until I stripped it earlier this year leaving a perfect unused looking frame.

Unless you looked closely you would not know it had been wrapped ( I used a matt black and did everything except the chain stays.)

..has anyone here considered yet that with an opaque wrap you may never know if you have a crack in your frame until it's too late? I've not read the whole thread so  if it has been mentioned.

Clear 3M wrap over a Bogus spray (coz it's worth it) could be the only option when you bring safety into it.
