Same with me

But there are people that remember (a lot of) weird stuff: The missus could tell an embassy employee once on what page number in her passport a certain (older) stamp were. (I did not even knew there are page numbers in the passport) .... both me and the lady behind the bullet proof glass had our jaws dropped to the floor.

I would have agreed a while back but now with everyone blatantly disobeying road rules, driving through red lights, taxi drivers etc. I've become far more conscious with regards to trying to remember number plates .. Just in case

Hi Slowbee,

I understand your concern about the details. I also believe there are always 3 sides to a story. Finding the driver will give us the opportunity to hear the 2nd side of the story.

Sonia is not big on social media, but I am sure I will get hold of her at some stage so she can join this thread.

On the details - Yes, she might not be sure about the exact number plate, but if someone has the skills and connections to find the owner of a car by tracking a number plate, then I am sure they will be able to do a quick check to see if the car with number plate CY 25 *Y is a black BMW X5. If not, well, then I guess it will be a bit harder to find the driver to hear his side of the story.

the "skilled connection" you are looking for are the cops. Was this incident reported to the authorities?

Take it to the authorities and then proceed from there. They can trace from make and 3-4 digits from what I remember.

I really do hope this guy is caught and made an example of. It doesn't matter what the "3 sides" to the story are. A person operating a motor vehicle is operating a deadly weapon. In this case he chose to use it to try and harm someone.

So hubbers instead of debating blame, if you know of someone that can assist, do so.

This type of cr@p has to end.

Attempted murder should NEVER be taken lightly. Find this driver, investigate, and prosecute if there is proof!

yeah exactly my thoughts.. is this trial and prosecution by someone else on facebook

if it happened report it to the POLICE not by a link to a social forum

The hubbers usually solve the crime for the police.

I am happy to contribute towards a P.I to sort this out ASAP. I turned around and went home on the morning of the race because I suddenly had a sense of doom about the race. This KUK must stop!!!!

Who in his right mind would be stupid enough to NOT report this to both the race organisers and the police.

Come now chaps. We all know the police are going to umm and ahh on this for weeks and most likely never get anywhere.

Last year I was involved in an accident with a drunk driver. While getting details from his, he jumped back in his car and tried to run me over. I laid formal charges against him. I had all the details. To date nothing happened. More than a year ago.

The police dont actually care unless somebody was killed or seriously injured.

The more information they can get to help with the investigation, the better the chances of this douche being  brought to justice.

you noticed I said IF..

the problem with us hubbers on these sorts of threads is that everyone is soon marching to the castle in a mob with burning torches and pitchforks only to later discover that doctor frankenstien doesn't live there and never has ...and they didn't get the right story to begin with

if a driver drove over a cyclist during a race then tell the authorities ie the police dont tell the hub

I dont want to become part of the discussion and mudslinging.

But four vark steaks, please confirm if this was reported to race organizers and police!

And if not! Why not?

until this question has been answered this smells very fishy to me

I know Sonia and Andre from cycling with them a few times. Unfortunately I do not know if this was reported at all the correct places. My guess is that it would have been reported because they are normal, intelligent and reasonable people. Unfortunately I cannot speak on their behalf on what they did or did not do. She asked for some assistance and I provided it in the form of this post.

I believe she has no reason to fabricate a story. If you smell something - it is OK. I guess I would as well if I did not know them a little bit.

Someone from the hub is assisting now to trace the number plate. That is all that was requested other than to try and find out if anybody else maybe saw the incident.

So, objective 1 accomplished. Thanks to the Hub for that.

Now for objective 2. If anybody saw the incident and is willing to get involved, please do not hesitate to contact Sonia. Her contact details is in the original post. No need to do it on this forum. Just go directly to her.

Thanks for all the assistance. It is appreciated.
