im amazed by how awesomely perfect all of you on this thread are..

and I sympathise with you all at how TERRIBLE it must be to be YOU..

and have to put up with all the other terrible cyclists on the planet cluttering up the road and trails and getting in your way or up your butt etc

SSSSSHHHAAAMMMMMEEEE

:ph34r:  :whistling:

We are not perfect, we half wheel during races by mistake, have given many dead wheels at Killarney Wednesdays, have ridden into people, mostly our own riders and best of all attacked at the worst possible times :D HAMMER

I read the whole thread, and some valid statements, some not so much relevant to me.

Kit - not too phazed - each to his own imo. I myself don't do lycra in daylight. When I do a 4:30am training ride, and no one is awake, and my baggies are dirty, I'll brave my bib (yes I have a couple, got it branded by my sponsor for last years W2W - didn't buy them), as long as I'm home before daybreak.

I'm not sure what's up with silver shoes? I don't feel like dancing, no dancing today.

I have to agree with the silent rider - unknown dude - that drafts when I'm out having a ride by myself, that comes and sits on my back wheel on the climbs. I absolutely lose my **** This is my ride - either have the decency to chat to me or bugger off.

And then the 'pitching up 15mins' late for a group ride and you still have to kit up.  If you call/whatsapp or whatever to say you're running late - fair enough, but still 15min is max.  More than that is just inconsiderate and you don't deserve to join the ride.

My riding group comes from far and wide, one from Stellies, one Durbanville, a couple from the city and myself from Paarl or Somerset West, so we don't mind much if someone is running a little late, or stuck in traffic, but if you set up a Jonkers ride and an extra guy from stellenbosch let's you know he will be 10mins late and pitches up 45mins late with a new chain in hand that still needs to be put on his bike, all enjoyment is gone and I want to go all super Sayan and spaz out.

eish - small rant, sorry!

haha, I got myself all worked up now thinking of what grinds my gears;

something else;

I get out of the way on the climbs for stronger climbers. If I let you pass on a climb, have the decency to get out the way when I'm coming down the hill faster than you, when you're not that fast.

It's a two way street - metaphorically speaking off-coarse.

I like just increasing the pace little by little until you hear them panting and then just hold it there till they pop :)

2:20 in VA at Emperors Palace, yes I'm certain you'll make pretty much anyone pop - quick sticks  ;)

No man, haha that's not what I meant. But the people who usually do that training slip stream thing are people that are usually slower. The guys who go faster than me are passing me, it's a mathematics thing ;)

If a stronger rider slips me, I take it as a massive compliment :)

Edit: on a side note, one thing that I have seen that is very cool is that a few times when some of the pros are out training in the cradle and they pass, they will invite you to ride along! No need to do it, but cool nonetheless! After a while a whole string of people are hanging on for dear life. Makes me think more of them as people and it makes us ride harder :)

LMAO,

With my bulk i descend like a brick off a cliff.

I have had race snake weight weenies ride in to the bush to get out of the way when they hear the commotion behind them as I go downhill....

Intimidation and a lot of back pedalling of Hope hubs also works on the tight single track....

Sadly though age and bulk are working against me and I am not getting to do that much passing any more.

Not giving right of way to fellow cyclist at robot intersections.

Riding both road and MTB I have seen it all.

The worst are the roadies were greeting and giving way to other cyclists does not apply to them.

Just this Sunday I took the mountain bike on a 50 km loop from Midrand to Montecasino. At the intersection of Main and Witkoppen  coming from Paulshof side the robot is green for me, I am in the intersection were a group +/- 14 roadies approaching from opposite direction should have given way to me as they were turning and I was going straight. I had to slow down to avoid a collision. Not one of them greeted or apologized either. And to top it all watching them ride up Main towards PWC they ride 3 abreast. NICE!!!!!!!
