What is your favourite fitness app, and/or your favourite fitness gadget, and why? I'm conducting some research for the writing of a magazine article on fitness fanatics' favourite apps and gadgets. Gadgets should be available in SA. Any feedback will be appreciated!

Depends on who you ask..........market specific. Some okes have all the gadgets (including even a thingymagic that tells you how much fluids you have consumed during a ride), others have only a system to show distance and time, while others just give it horns and "listens" to their body. Maybe look at the different personality types and if that plays a role in the apps and gadgets used. Some people really get caught up in all the data and information that can be provided by these utilities..........just to fall in a paralysis by analysis trap.

There is also the question of using all these resources seperatly or combined for training and/or racing.........and that is another story all on its own.

Hope you find some interesting info.

None other than the best : Strava.

Makes analyzing efforts breeze

Segments are used for intervals(push myself a lot further)

Share with friends

Compare with other riders

Use the virtual race(compare efforts) to see where I won and where I lost my races

Shows millage on my gear.

...and many more!

Yip you can. Endomondo.

I personally use MyTracks......and it can be connected to everything, from GPS (distance, speed, elevation, etc.), to heart rate, right through to cadence even. It even allows you to take pics and GeoTag them. Works like a bomb.

polar rcx5 mainly for heart rate, only reason I got it was because Due south was clearing old stock and I got the ride bundle for R2400. oh and Strava...
