3:45 from C batch

Need to train to be able to start faster and try and get to the front of the batch - pretty sure I could have ridden most (or at least a lot more than I did) of the Tower climb but not if everyone in front of you walks

Guys from A batch and the leading ladies all walked parts of that climb...

I must have ridden with you at some stage. I did a 3:43 also group C so must have finished just ahead of you.

Fair enough, but I think we walked almost the whole climb, excluding the concrete sections

I also started in C  and was also surprised by the amount of people pushing up that climb. I couldn't remember that many walkers on Vodacom hill last year. There's a bit towards the end where it was just really rough and I pushed for 50 meters or so, but the rest of the climb I rode. That must be one of the better climbs around IMHO.

A bit more singletrack would be fun, but overall a good race and lekker bushveld vibe. I'll be back.

We had a really sucky day out (no not really). My mate had lots of mechanicals. 3 Punctures (he should have topped up the slime), derailleur wheel busted (he should have replaced it a long time ago) and the derailleur cable snapped (don’t know what caused this). BUT it was an absolute blast! The waterpoints did not really help with the slow going. I mean why would I rush if I get cake, donuts, jelly babies, jelly tots, banana loaf, ostrich and lost to drink. How brilliant was that!! We crawled home in 4:09 after going in singlespeed mode on his bike. That final parts of the 70km was great with the singletrack. Really really good event

Could have been me. I went down at 38 of the marathon. I was going flat out, thick sand directed me into a gully and then I hit the deck. About five people did the same thing while I waited. Does anyone know of a club called the mud pups? Two guys helped me up and got in touch with the medics. That's when things went hay wire. Thanks to the sweeper cows. I was loosing my sense of humor when you guys arrived.

Hope you heal up soon.

Hope the young lady on the 20km finished her 20km race. she was about to turn around as the saddle popped of the rails, taped it and saw her a few km's later walking again. This time I unscrewed the plastic bit and made that go over the rail and duct taped it.

Think she finished the race after that as we sweeped and did not see her again.
