Know this was a BIG issue in last Joburg2C You CANNOT be serious!-1000 points Now I must compare this to Pat when I met him 2 weeks ago test riding the Pyga's. "Our frames have that standard warranty, but being local we will look after you long after this as we believe in our product". I know it is just words, but I trust the man. How do you compare?

When I bought my Stumpy I sure as hell didn't sign any T's and C's and the shop didn't tell me anything of the sort, so on what basis would Spez enforce such a condition on me? Sorry, but that is either total horse manure or they are asking for a hiding at the Consumer Commission.

If you have it serviced elsewhere you will lose your warranty.

It's one part of the bike and the OP isn't even considering something with a Brain on!!!

Would you want a non-approved Brain Shock dude to service that shock anyway. I agree its only this one component. With that logic a non-Spez shop cannot service my drive train which is Shimano in any case.

If only they are allowed to do something it implies they can ask you whatever price they want to and you got no option. Def a situation I don't want to be in. Disappointed that they think they can strong arm a community as such. Time to vote with the feet. I am glad I asked the question as the practices could be seen to be restrictive. And counter to competition. I am amazed at how thick skinned and obviously stupid these people are to think they can get away with this. I see another apology and competition commission hearing coming.

GI own a Silverback Slade 1 so not in that particular boat either. However with Spez going the concept store route and not allowing other lbs' to carry any of their goods it kinda does force people who buy Spez to exclusively use their stores as the story related by Robodog shows. I think highly of Spez's bikes but I'm fast losing my respect for the company.

Like I said, actually think Spez is a very good product but don't like to the boxing in. Bit like Apple
Skylark Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Well I suppose anything proprietary on a Spez they may demand needs to be supplied/repaired/serviced by them, fork/shock/pivot bearings and bushings/derailleur hangers/thru axels etc. Wouldn't be nice being under the gun like that, with many brands you can have your local lbs sort your bike out and often even if they didnt sell you the bike(And perhaps aren't even agents for that brand)they can help you sourcing proprietary spares or a warranty claim, contact the supplier and make a plan. Appears Spez would not even remotely entertain something like.
