Let it go or one more try???
Soooo, I took a gamble and bought a Mavic crossmax wheelset for cheap. Replaced bearings, was easy, serviced freehub. mounted tyres and took rear wheel for a spin. NEW chain, cassette and chainring. Wheel spin baie mooi....freehub is slipping(ID360). investigate....freehub ratchet is worn. open again clean and try again, still slipping. So replace the ratchet(R760 from Merlin cycles) and try again or replace hub with new. Any thoughts?

Old problem of the crossmax. Well....that I can remember from back in the day when 26ers were the ****.

Be VERY careful with the oil/grease there.  It should almost have zero lubrication in that ratchet system.  The moment it is somewhat sticky, the freewheel body will slip.
Remove all oil and grease and run it bone dry and see if it still slips.

This worked back in the day.

Woodstock Cycles in CT is busy relocating and Nils is getting rid of a lot of old 2ndhand stock lying around. It might be worth your while to give him a call and see what he has available, you've got nothing to lose 👍

Add to this that you'll need a special tool to get the ratchet ring out...

When you say wiped clean, did you completely disassemble the pawls and springs and clean those out too?

Hi
yes on the PIC, removed everything from 7 to 11. No9 looks that no grease or anything on. Will clean it with de-greaser and try again.

Ah. Scrap the bit about the special tool then.

Replacement ratchet set is your only option I'd reckon, once those rings start slipping it's game over. Same happens to the DT 54T ratchets.

Anyone want an old altitude generator for hypoxic training?

It seems to still work but is making a really horrible noise. The inline O2 sensor doesn't work, but I borrowed an O2 sensor, which shows it does still drop the % oxygen.

If you can use or repair it you are welcome to to DM me. Collection only in Kalkbay- it weighs a ton.

Cleaning out my storeroom and have a few items available:

2x Fizik Gobi saddles. Both have the typical cracked shell, but definitely usable.

1x set of ODI Ruffian grips and clamps. Pretty worn out, but the clamps might be usable to someone.

1x packet Squirt tubeless sealant

1x set of MBUK bullet schrader valve caps
