Saddles

I currently use a 143 Romin on my Tarmac and a 143 Phenom on my MTB....

I can't get over putting a Spez saddle on my new bike.

So here's the question, has anybody else switched from a similar saddle to a Fizik, Selle, San Marco etc and found it ok?

If so which models? Basically which saddles are similar to the two that I am using at the moment?

Go and get a demo SDG (http://sdgcomponents.com) saddle from Dirt Merchant. Ride it for a week and see / feel if it works for you.

The only way to know if a saddle works for you is by trying it out.

Otherwise, stick with what you know...Specialized makes great saddles.

Yes I am happy with it. But it's not that simple.

I don't want a Spez saddle on a Colnago if I can help it. Also, it's the saddle my bike came with so I just got used to it, so how do you know if another saddle won't be better?

I understand the issue and risk of changing saddles and accept that risk. I just want some direction.

So my question still stands, what is a similar saddle to those Spez ones?

Agree with Cav ,

If you NOT gonna ride Spez , the Selle Italia SLR is next best .

I have SLR on my Tandem ... Phenom expert on my MTB and S-Works Toupe on my road single .

Must say that the S-Works is a bit hard .

The Selle SLR is a narrow saddle. I had one and could not get used to it. If you are currently using a 143mm then go for Fizik Antares. I had the 00 model which is 140g. The cheaper Antares Carbon braided is just as light and cheaper. I have done a comfortable DC on my Antares 00.

Patch ,

If you anywhere near the far east rand (Benoni ) , I have a Selle SLR you can try .

Awesome! Thanks for the offer, I might just take you up on it. The fact that you also use a Phenom makes me comfortable that a SLR could work.

What sizes?

When I was saddle shopping I went with the pro turnix saddle and really happy with it.

It does take a few rides to get into it and gets really comfy. I took a chance and luckily for me it worked.

CWC sells them

Interesting thread. I have the same problem as you Patch. Had a Toupe on my Spez, and the Phenom on the mtb. But have a Cannondale road bike now, and been looking at replacing the Spez saddle. No problem with the saddle, just want something else.

Been looking at the San Marco Aspide (they offer a 142mm width), as I like the stealth black look as well. So its between that and the Antares for me atm.
