Have a look at the new Fabric saddles.

I had Fizik / Selle Italia SLR on my bikes for nearly 5 Years.

Got the Fabric and I will never look back.

Im really keen to try one of those, by all accounts they are very comfortable.

I currently use a 143 Romin on my Tarmac and a 143 Phenom on my MTB....

I can't get over putting a Spez saddle on my new bike.

So here's the question, has anybody else switched from a similar saddle to a Fizik, Selle, San Marco etc and found it ok?

If so which models? Basically which saddles are similar to the two that I am using at the moment?

my ZIM0.02c is that you shouldn't change what you know works for you. Just take some acetone and rub the "S" and other branding off the saddle and the fashion police won't fine you

Awesome! Thanks for the offer, I might just take you up on it. The fact that you also use a Phenom makes me comfortable that a SLR could work.

What sizes?

Both Spez saddles are 143 , will check the SLR ... Think they are 144 .

But I will know... And I will become depressed, start drinking, lose my job, family and my bicycles..... just cause I was scared of change ;)

Why do you need a saddle, save some weight and just constantly attack.

Very bold move when you rock up at a race without a saddle or seat post. Also much lighter than any saddle.

Hi

The SLR is a great saddle but width is only 133 mm. I would rather recommend the Selle Italia Flight which is 143 mm. I recently went through this same exercise and am very happy with my new flight. I have also used the phenom but definitely prefer the flight.

Great idea, very intimidating! Especially at an IronMan, impressive!!

But you need to dump the seat post too, if you have a post and no saddle you will just come across as kinky.

You must be impressed with the Romin?

Which one do you have though?

I am looking at the Romin Expert Gel - keen to hear know about your experience.

Standard Expert, great saddle. Never had issues, no numb balls even after a 7 hour DC.

I have a 143 Phenom on my Spez Epic. It came with it but was also the recommended saddle by the Assometer. I also have a Fizik Arione on both my Giant XTC and my Roadbike and have no problems. Just the bike setup is slightly trickier when you want to copy from the Spez model as the Arione is slightly longer.

Patch, sounds like I'm very similar to you. My Spez Phenom 143mm on my mtb is perfect for me. On that note, PJP2013 has it spot on with the 143mm Sella Italia Flight Flow. Like riding all day on butter, esp. if you get the one with titanium rails. Perfect saddle from all-day rides to racing.
